Thanks to you all for a great website. This messaage board has been a wealth of info for me (new to TVR)I have been off work for the last 10 days on holiday and have spent this time running up and down the counrty in search of a S series car. On friday I did find a great example (S3 in Bath) I cant pick the car up until I recieve a cheque with the remenants of my ISA which will take a week or so.(cant wait)
The TVR will be my second car as I have a Passat for work. Does any one have advise on insurance? I have had quotes from £450 to £3000 I will be happy with a 4000 mile policy. Im based in the NW London(Harrow)/ Middlesex area ,look forward to meeting other S owners.
Any general advise would be welcome.
Thanks again> Brian.

Congrats on the 'new' car, as for insurance I use Classic Line as they seem to do a very reasonable deal on the S's as 'future classics' on a second car policy. Be advised though like Mannings the official TVRCC insurer they only cover official club track days, if thats your bent.

Welcome to the "S" club.
Mannings no. is 01491 578759.
Getting a good quote depends mostly on your age and particularly with Mannings if you haven't driven a performance car before they wont be interested in giving you a quote.
My best quote was with Footman James but there are several others you can try.
There was an extensive thread on Insurance about 6/7 weeks ago.
When you join the TVR Car Club the Sprint mag. will list several companies.
Good luck and enjoy.

Welcome to the club. I have mine insured through AON tel:01384 455011. I've got 5000 miles and cost £360ish.
I'm sure you'll enjoy TVRing.
The only downside for me is the other car a 1983 2CV I can't wait!

Are they still considered as CND staff cars now days or have the reductions in the nuclear arsenal caused a glut in the 2CV market .

Hi Brian,

I'm also in Harrow and am insured with Classic Line. This is my first tiv as well and the premium is £304, fully comp limited to 3000 miles.

As mine is also a second car, the other being a Seat Leon (suprisingly well put together)it doesn't get out as much as it should do, being treated to dry days out only. That will change I'm sure as the weather gets worse and that 'new car' feeling wears off!

Where in Harrow are you? We could meet up to give the cars a blatt when you've taken delivery

Arghh! The 2CV It does serve a purpose. It's great for going to the footy in cos no one'll bother messing with it. I also appreciate the Tiv so much more after driving it. I forgot to mention it's also left hand drive, fantastic for overtaking

Hi Brian,

Welcome. I used to have a S3, great cars - you'll love it. For insurance Classicline as others have said seem to be good, Mannings also for club members, however as per comments made they like you to have previous performance car experience.

You can contact the club by phone and join, details on the website www.tvrcc.com

Cheers,
JSG.

Hi Brian - welcome to the S Club. You will not regret it (even if I was struggling to see 5 feet in front of me last night in peeing rain with cack headlights )

On the insurance front - no idea as I am a youngun and get hammered at £1200 a year!

My first car after uni was a 2cv, had it for 3 years. I break out in a cold sweat now when I recall the overtakes I used to perform in it. I'd love another one.

Mark

Edited to add: I'm with Mannings, it costs a bit less than 500 with unrestricted miles, parked on the drive in berkshire. I'm 33.

Try Manning’s first for insurance. They just insured my S3 on a classic policy for £247 with a 5000 mileage limit - great stuff (I'm 35).
