I currently get pretty naff radio reception in my S (this is based on comparisons of stations that are fine in another car). Before I start any investigations I wanted to check whether this is just something I should learn to live with, or whether anyone can actually testify to get decent reception.

If this is a curable problem, I'm guessing it'll be connected with the earthing of the arial. Has anyone done any work on this, or can anyone tell me where the earthing point is? (I can't see any reference to this in the bible)

Cheers,

Richard

I have no problems with reception in my S2,
its a Grundig DAB unit but even non-digital
stations generally give good reception.
I still have the original factory fit aerial so i
guess its just one of those TVR things that
either works or doesn't.

There should be a metal mesh glued up inside the wing under the base of the aerial, with a wire earthing it. If this is missing or the earth wire has fallen off it, the reception would suffer.

As Peter has said my money would be on the ground plane not being connected to earth (0v) i.e. the wire mesh thingy under the Aerial.

Thanks for the tip about the mesh under the arial guys. I'll check that tomorrow and see what transpires.

Cheers
