Cheers for your comments guys i am arranging to look at both a V8S and an S3 over the next couple of weeks and then take things from there. I suppose at the end of the day the proof is in the pudding!...so to speak.
I am going with a friend to the berkshire meet on tuesday (in his chimarea) to see if anyone arrives in their S and then maybe pick their brains and blag a ride.

I actually prefer the S2 to the V8S. The balance of power and torque to the rest of the car seems better with the V6.
Shame on you! Repeat after me: "It just needs a bit more power!" I've added about 90 bhp so far, and the limiting factor on further mods is the strength of the transmission rather than the handling.
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
Went to the berkshire meet last night and as i was leaving spotted a Mean Green V8s in the car park so went back in the pub to find out who the owner was...turned out to be fellow pistonhead JSG. Cheers John for sparing the time last night to show me what to look out for and actually allowing me to try one on for size and the exhaust note...don't get me started!!
Cheers and i must say it's nice to put a face to a profile if you know what i mean.

Extremely tidy example of a V8S that one, and a sound to die for
