Glen,
Very sorry to hear your terrible news, Barry and Jo were among the first people I met at my first S Club in 2011 (and the first that I got lost with on the run out!) and we always had a chat when we met up on the many events we both attended in the years since.
amongst a group of top blokes Barry was a top bloke and a proper S enthusiast, he will be greatly missed.
My condolences to you and the family.
Paul.

Glenn, I’m sorry sir.
What terribly shocking and sad news. RIP Barry. He was the heart and soul of so many S gatherings, adventures and breakfasts. I have fond memories of laughing till I cried as we put some “curtains” on a Gazebo at Castle Coombe, and enjoying his company over a few beers in many bars around Europe, and hearing tales of how he’d got lost somewhere. We’ve lost one of the “Good Guys”.

So sorry to read this yesterday. Barry was such a lovely bloke as the many messages on here testify. He was always happy doing his own thing - we passed him on the way down from Applecross, parked up in a lay-by, just watching the scenery and the highland cattle. He was also the one that went up the ski lift at Glen Shee, while the rest of us set in the cafe having a warm drink. Hope he's still finding his own way somewhere else..
I've given up trying to write something different to what I said in the Facebook group so I'll paste it here...
Some lovely words have been written about Barry in the previous comments. They sum him up so well I cannot think of anything to add other than to say he was definitely one of the 'good guys' and he will be missed enormously.

Very sad - RIP Barry.
We were friends on fb and often messaged each other with quips and thoughts that would probably have us banned by fb.
I last messaged about 10 days ago, asking if he was ok as he hadn't replied. I then found he had relapsed and not in a good place.
Can't express myself but gutted. Rest In Peace mate.

Update:
Barry's funeral is to be held at 12:30pm on Thursday 17th June, at Three Counties Crematorium, Halstead Road, High Garrett, Braintree, Essex, CM7 5PB.
Under present restrictions, the numbers inside for the Memorial Ceremony is limited to just 37 family members and close friends, but the car park is quite large with parking spaces for up up to 100 cars.
Afterwards a small gathering limited to 30 people inside will be held at The Apple Tree at Gosfield Lake, Church Road, Gosfield, Nr Halstead, Essex, CO9 1UD.
There may be further numbers allowed to attend outside, weather permitting.
I am currently awaiting clarification regarding car parking and charges, if any, at this venue.
