I have just got my ex Griff seats from Douglas Valley & they need a good clean. They have lots of grease and oily hand prints on them & some stains. Underneath all of this they do look prety good though!

does anyone have any tips on getting them back to good condition ? - there are so many lotions and potions in Halfords but do any of them work?

Cheers

Hi Simon,

I find the Autoglym products to be pretty good. You can get various leather creams/feeds and general cleaning/protection products from them. You've probably seen them at Halfords.

I think it depends on the colour of the leather and the depth of the grime as to how well they come up. I treat my seats to a leather cream feed about once every 4 to 6 months and sometimes use a spray cleaner once in a while to keep on top of them.

The cream feeder is good for keeping the leather supple and adds to the depth of colour. It will also help to prevent cracks and will increase their lifespan. The cleaners will also protect them. It may take a few goes to get the desired effect. Good luck!

Thanks for that. I have just bought some cleaner and conditioner from a firm that advertises in the classic car mags. It seems to clean off any dirt or grease very well. The problem is that my seats have stains that will not come off. I guess that I will have to try some kind of dye next.

On the vinyl inside my S3C, the only thing which shifted the grime was Celulose thinners. Obviously, try an inconspicuous bit first and don't use on the leather!
