minimum brake pad thickness

Can anyone tell me what the minimum recommended brake pad etc thickness is?
Dunno what the official line is, but since they often wear unevenly I'd suggest 2mm or 3mm as an absolute minimum. Below that you're in real danger of going metal-to-metal on the inside pad (which wears faster than the outside one, in my experience). I would suggest 5mm to be on the safe side for normal driving. Although it isn't a catastrophy if you go below that, why risk trashing the discs just to get another five quid's worth out of the pads?
