Does anybody on here know if the Alloy elec window switches and round knob covers (set of 3) fit the relevant knobs and switches on the S2 dash? I have the magnolia leather dash and thought they would look rather cool, better than the black plastic existing ones.
I did leave a message with Leven weeks ago, but they never replied
Also, has anyone fitted the alloy Griff-type rear screen struts?..they look great and wondered if they are expensive to buy and easy to fit? Or alternatively, has anyone attempted to spray the existing ones to spruce them up?..there are some good quality ally/chrome/satin black sprays around these days...or would that look naff?

Leven only do a very limited range of products suitable for the S.

They do however list what cars their products are available to be used on and this is a good guide.

Retro fitting roof struts is easy. All you need to do is elongate the holes in the rear bulkhead downwards slightly by around 5 - 10 mm as the ally struts are longer than the originals.

Does really improve the look of the car.

Contact LeeBee, he has all the bits n pieces on his S that you can get.... incl. the window switches. He's listed on Pistonheads.

The griff struts look great, i'd go that way rather than spray the old ones. However my originals are fine so i'm sticking with them for now.

I have however replaced the wood strips on the doors with aluminium ones, looks the business as there was no other wood in the car and it looked daft IMO

cheers

Lee's bits are all custom made except the window swithces which you will then have to change to the later type Vauxhall ones and then buy the ally covers for.

The rotary switches in Lees were made by himself.

My S has the Griff ally hood struts and they do look the biz. Look like they are pretty much a straight swap for the originals, but they were on the car when I bought it. I'm thinking about fitting the Leven vents to the top of the dash but then will have to replace the black bezels on the gauges/dials to match.

Cheers

don't get the rotary covers as they use a sticky bit of tape to attach to the blower knob and thus when used the alloy cover comes off with no resulting turn of the switch. lot of money for what they are. i found a local alloy turner to make a custom set using a grub screw at the side, much better and they worked, plus £30 versus levens £70 for the three. never been good at maths but think it was worth it. botty

How about some of the nice Leven ally indicator and wiper stalks for the S. We are all fed up with the old black plastic Ford Escort stuff. If the existimg ones for Chim and Griff will fit your christmas order book will soon fill.

What does everyone else think.

IIRC these haven't been offered for the S, becuase the stalks are part of the control column, so are more difficult to replace...

Hmmm, Leventech are a bit strange, they read this thread (re the title of it), then proceed to not offer an answer, even though they are more qualified than any of us to answer it

So...Leventech?....can i put any of your bits on my christmas list for my relatives or are they not suitable for the S??

Oh dont worry mister schnozz, i intend to get one of those beauties, i think the 'ford?' one in the S looks crap,as does the plastic sierra/escort steering column shroud !...i think cheap looking bits like that let the otherwise cool interior down.
Was it easy to fit?...looked like just one bolt? to me.
Do you have to do any cable adjusting?

Did you got for the funky shaped one?

Jonzo - you cut off the existing one, slide the new one over and tichten it with a supplied key IIRC.

Given Leven a call - 01268 281611. Seems to me that they are quite happy to answer any questions.

Podie - I went for the standard straight handle - same price. I prefered the classic look to be honest.

Easy to fit - the old one in my car just slid straight off. Unscrew button on top and screw in new metal one (no thread, just into whatever fills the button. new handle slips on and 3 tiny allen key bolts that go underneath. Allen key supplied, tighten them a little to grip (but not too much). and stand back and admire.

Sorry for the late reply, been out all day.
S-Type stalks are not as easy as they first look due to the 'active' button on the ends and the cranked angle. If enough owners are interested then we will have another look at it. Please call us direct on Tel: 01268-281611 (do not Post on the Gassing station as it is not appropiate) To speed up the process we would really like to hear from owners in the Basildon area to measure cars.

Having (literally) just purchased a daily hack I am on the trail for an S. Several have appeared and I am off to look at a few over the weekend.

Depending on how long Leven can wait, I'll be more than happy to offer my (future) S for measurements since I work in Basildon.

I'll give them a call tomorrow in case they don't check GS...!
