In Steve's Bible it states that Central Locking was fitted as standard to the V8S....is this really the case?

I don't think there is such a thing as standard on a TVR!.Easy way to tell if the car has central locking but doesn't work is to turn the key in the lock, it will either turn easily or be quite stiff and make a whirring sound

Cheers

I have one of the very last S's and if it was standard then I think it would be fitted to mine, which it isn't, well I don't think it is and if it was it's definately not working .

You have one of the early prototype Chimaeras with a special body that looks like an S....

On the cars that have it it is standard but on those that don't it isn't. The literature says yes but as it was often a delaer fit after the car was made, there is some variation.

-Fitted on my S2, it was an option. It doesn't work, key is stiff but no whirring sound. I know it's there cause I've had the door panel off to fix the electric window....which is another story!

No. It was an option from the S3 onwards according to TVR's blurb. My S3 had it but the V8S doesn't.

Some cars had it fitted by a dealer and many have had it fitted as part of an alarm installation.

I've got it on my V8S.Didn't work when I first had the car.Fixed it when I had the door in bits to adjust hinges. The lever which operates it was fastened to the door lock plunger by means of a small socketheaded grubscrew. It had worked loose,so re-securred. needed several adjustments to get operation correct though.

Much to my surprise had it on my S3. Only found out just before I sold it when fiddling about with the battery. I’d disconnected it for some reason and when reconnecting the battery all of a sudden all the doors locked! Very weird, it had never worked on the key; unfortunately never got around to finding a fix.

Clifford alarm and central locking is fitted to my S3 registered in 1991 - after some work it now is fully operational.

I have several TVR S Series brochures and price lists dated around the same time, I will out of curiosity have a look to see if central locking is actually listed by the factory.

The brochure I have for the S3 / S3C shows it as an option.

...err...no such thing as a standard Tiv is there! Mine's an S2, according to the factory invoice anyhow, also on the invoice is the central locking cost as an option, along with other things.

-edited to add, does this make mine an S2.5?
