footwell leaks

I am still getting a fair amount of water in the passenger footwell in the present beautiful weather. I have replaced the grommets in the floor but know its not these as it is getting in when the car is stationary.

I have gone around the accessible grommets in the engine bay and placed sealant around them. I have also put some black silicone sealant in the passenger side windscreen wiper arm base. Still no joy.

I wondered if it was a problem with the door seal being "too" efficient. But the carpet never seems that wet along the passenger side carpet running down from the door so I cant believe it would be that. Anyone got any pointers? It seems to be wetter towards the front of the footwell but I cannot see (without getting under the car) where it would be coming in when stationary.

Any advice to save me from swimming? I told the other half just to wear a bikini whilst passenger but she isnt too keen

PS - I realise the car is unlikely to ever be completely watertight but I dont want to knacker the carpets!!!!

Have a close look at the windscreen and the side indicators?

How about where the windscreen wipers are bolted through the body as it is known to leak here too.
Water usually sits there so if there isnt much it could be leaking,but dont know how much water you could get going through there.

I had the same problem, turned out to be running over the door seal where the electric cables went to the door and across the seal. I rerouted them.

What about the bulkhead holes for the clutch and brake master cylinders? Might be worth running some silicon around those or if you've the time removing them, cleaning up and running a bead around the holes.

Mine was the windscreen (fixed mine easily with clear sealant on the outside) On a sharp corner to the left you'd get the remianing water sat at the bottom of the screen pouring onto your knees.. nice.

thanks very much guys. I know I have posted about leaks before and got some ideas then. Before I re-posted I also did a search on leaks but still new information comes out the woodwork!!!! Plenty of new leads to follow and I shall buy some clear sealant (been using either white or black so far) and get out there again in search of dryness!! the war continues
