Help!!

I've currently got the car off the road and am having an extensive running gear rebuild done, however I'm having a nightmare!! Does anyone know where I can get 2 steering rack mounting rubbers (the ones that go around the rack and are bolted to the chssis via the U-Clamp). I have tried various TVR places, rack reconditioners and Vauxhall (on the assumption that the rack is from a chevette originally) and have drawn a complete blank

Can anyone please help?

I thought the steering rack was from a Ford...

Have you tried places like Wedge Automotive (or RT Racing as they are now called), David Gerald or Steve Reid...?

You could also try Peninsular on 01884 35341 - they seem to know what's what when it comes to parts.

Thanks Chaps

Issue Sorted, David Gerald had some (as is typical, he was about the only place I didn't try). Penninsula haven't had any for ages apparently. Thanks for the help

The Steering Rack is a Chevette outer tube with a specific TVR gearing inside and different rods etc.. The were made specifically for TVR (part no: S28H 10050) by a factory that went out of business years ago, I think I purchased the last ever "new" one for my S a couple of years ago after an exhaustive search, however there are lots of places who will recondition them if needs be.

Regarding this problem, I would suspect a Chevette rack mount would be the right part anyway, as the outer tube was the chevette original, just the "guts" of it that were different.

Cheers,
Matt
