The sender unit flange on the petrol tank side needs to come off and some new gaskets fitted. Has anybody done this? If so how does the flange come off?

Go to your Rover dealer and ask for a rubber gasket and lockring for a mini fuel tank(pre-facelift) if you look at yours, you will see that it twists 1/3 turn and you know what you'll need when they shove the microfiche thing under you nose.Don't try and remove the old to re-use,it just wont happen. This was for my S3,although things have been different for other one's.Should set you back about £4.Just run the car low on fuel, jack up the nearside, carefully remove the old, clean the rust off and fit the new. Some people fitted gasket cement on theirs when they fit them.I used a touch of grease between the lockring and sender face and put the gasket on dry.
