More exhaust advice required please - manifolds

I'm sure you're right and I wouldn't recommend it for this application. I think this technique works well where you can apply intense heat to a small localised area without fear of distortion. In my case with the 2.8 head the studs were in so hard nothing would have shifted them. Even when the heads were on the milling machine we lost two cutters where the studs had developed hard spots. Having said that I lived with a leaking manifold for several weeks until I was forced to do it but with new manifolds and exhaust it was a different car.
