the Springs on my S3 seem to be fully compressed and i assume need replacing

a.is it best to replace the springs and dampers together?
b.is this relative easy to do it seems to be just a top and bottom bolt?
c.anyone know where a can get a standard spec pair for a resonable price?

If the springs are shot it seems likely the dampers will be worn out too. But are you sure the springs are shot? They should be rising rate springs with the top three or four coils touching at the normal ride height.

Cheers,

you tend to find the arch will be lower at the front anyway (mine certainly is after new springs). How many holes do you have to put the bonnet catch into? if you have a second one drilled and you still cant put it up then it would suggest springs are shot. if the car is on the originals and its done more than 50k then its a fair chance they are.......

I was expecting to put new shocks on when changing the springs but they turned out to be ok so I put new springs on by themselves.

I also suspect that my front springs are worn out. I have the same problem with not being able to open the bonnet all the way up. I also think that the car looks a bit too low when looking at the front wheels/wheel arches. Have also thought about only replacing the front springs for now, and maybe replace both dampers and springs all around later when I have the money. The dampers do not feel like they are worn out yet. The car feels good on the road and handling is nice. The only problem is that the car is too low in front.

In mine the bushes , both upper and lower, in the front damper were worn, making the effective length of the damper about 1,5 cm shorter.
After replacement of teh bushes the bonnet opens fully without problems.

Interesting! I'll have a look at the bushes as soon as possible.

I had a quick look at the upper bushes last night and they were not in the best shape. Perhaps I should replace all the bushes before doing anything else then...

I live in the Netherlands. Had them replaced by NIMAG, the dutch TVR dealer.
