Got my car back today - bad start lost a full set of house keys, so had to buy and fit six new locks before we set off - but who cares - the old girl now handles like a dream - much more positive and a lot less nerve racking in corners - recommend bush and shock upgrade highly - 11.30pm - just got back from a wee spin - another £25 petrol bill but bu**er it - it was so much fun

So what suspension package did you go for in the end Ren , just out of interest how many petrol tokens were exchanged. Not that I'll be able to afford such luxury myself at the present moment .
Also on a scale of 1 - 10 how would you rate the improvements, even in a grins per buck scale if you so desire.

Hi Harry, ended up with Redline shocks - there are two versions but the only difference is that the bushes on the more expensive one's are floating. The original springs according to Richard were good so I kept them. Also fitted a full set of poly bushes to the front and welded a crack in the exhaust. The difference is highly noticable - even my better half could tell the difference in the passenger seat. The car used to wander a lot especially on bumpy surfaces but now it is straight as an arrow and in corners it holds the line, which it just didn't before. Still concerned about my engine knocking, but I might be overly worried. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it 9 with lots of happy bouncing - it really is a diferent car. As well as the shocks and fancy bushes Richard coated and painted the springs and suspension arms, set up the geometry, took it for a spin and re set it and then announced that it was ready for collection - Total cost (excluding the £70 for a V8S hand brake and gear knob in Ali)was £875. Only had it back a day (done 100 miles though) and will let you know how I got on

Cheers Mark
