Hope there are some owners of the Tuscan S to give me the low down on what the cars are really like.. I have a 996 GT3 kit etc..great car but boring to drive compared to last car a Cerbera Speed Six but,lots of problems with it so went for the Porsche, can someone give me an insight into build quality, reliability and general day to day life with one.
Is the Speed Six engine sorted out?

Heart says Tuscan S, head says stay with the Porsche..

What about a Cerbera 4.5LW RedRose? Fully sorted and very fast!!!

Can't comment on the S but my standard Tuscan is fine. Okay there have been the odd niggle but nothing major. I use it everyday it is my inly car and it is far more practical than a Chimaera and my old MX5.

The boot is just huge, the doors are higher cut and don't hit the pavement on high kerbs/high camber roads. If you're careful the mpg isn't bad 22-25 (Although I never am) oh and it goes like stink.

I am still running in my "S" and I love it to bits...... Until you drive one (or as a passenger) you just cannot imagine the amount of looks you get. It also goes rather well even when keeping the revs down.

It's just done 1000 miles and had it's first service. Gradually building up the revs from 3500 to full revs at 2000 miles.

You do this so early???
I thought it would take at least 5000 miles before daring above 4000 rpm...or maybe I just know nothing on how to run a TVR in

I had the pleasure of taking one onto Millbrook Oval last month and accelerated onto it thinking i was doing about 100 mph only to see the true reading at 140mph - It feels far faster than the standard Tuscan, especially after a ton.

As regards running in the handbook would appear to give the best advice where you will be totaly run in after 2500 miles. Ensure the revs are varied during that as well. Having spoken with John Ravenscroft on this subject it would appear that if people are too careful running in some of the bores glaze hence far higher oil consumption. Oil consumption does take to 6-7000 before it totaly settles down though.

The early press car(orange) had no running in at all, because it went to journalists straight off and that now uses very little oil with 40,000 miles under its belt.

Made my mide up guys, the Tuscan S is a great car but still has usual TVR problems which is such a shame because the car goes like nothing I have every driven, I am getting some more mods on the 996 and will re-visit the Tuscan in 2002 if they look like they are getting the car right.......
