S Series Petrol Filler Caps !!!!!!
Discussion
In Steve Heath's book, The TVR S Series ( otherwise known as "The Bible" ),
there is a very simple method described, along with a sketch, of locking the filler cap from inside the boot, using a pin to prevent the release toggle from unlatching when pressed.
It just involves one careful drilling from inside the boot. Cheap and effective.

.... (given the cost of unleaded) I would like to change the filler cap for a lockable one,in the original pattern? Did one get manufactured in China? ...
A much simpler option (a) drive it so there's never enough left in the tank to make it worth nicking or (b) if you don't drive it much, don't fill it up. glenrobbo said:

Yep - I've done it, and its very effective. I used a fancy chrome drum kit tensioner as the wing bolt - easy to get hold of and twist. there is a very simple method described, along with a sketch, of locking the filler cap from inside the boot, using a pin to prevent the release toggle from unlatching when pressed.

Or you can use workmate plastic tensioners as in my link from many moons ago..

Didn't think re-chroming was an option? once that type of metal corrodes it can't be repaired so the "pock marks" would show in the new plating?
He did, I seem to recall, locate some new old stock unplated caps that he (or the TVR specialist they ended up with) had plated? These were bare castings and had to be assembled with your hinge etc.
Despite his big farewell he has been known to "pop back" every so often, maybe he'll pick up on this and will be able to give you the full story, if it's not buried here in this 190 post epic thread
