Hi

Been considering this conversion, the alloys are pretty cheap nowadays.. does anyone have pictures of an S with these alloys on..? Considering painting the alloys white, orange or black / titanium.

Cheers

Here you go as Kev says you need the same size all round. Want to swap for some originals?

The last few V8S came with 7x15" Imola wheels (Chimaera 400 front) all round. They're a direct swap for the earlier style 8 spoke wheels. I've changed to the 7.5x16" (Chimaera 400 rear) to get more grip and more space for the brakes. The extra width is all inboard so there's some effect on the front geometry but they're a direct swap for the rear.

Thanks for the pics guys.. I was intending on putting the 16" ones on the back (std on Chim) to get more grip.. and keeping the 15" for the front.. ie moving the standard chimera set up to an S..

Does anyone know of a reason why these would not fit on an S3..? I will probably keep the OZ's too as mine are practically perfect in every way.

Thanks

Damian

Hi Peter

I have forgotten what tyres you where running on the Imolas.Thinking of going that route my self.I'm a bit concerned, the wheels won't clear the Cossie Four Pots iv'e got on the front.

I'm running with Griff/Chim 500 wheels.
Too low a profile on the front tyres IMO, so looking to change tyres to fill the front arch a bit better.
cheers
John

I'm running 225 (S03), which are just about spot on for that width rim. What diameter discs do you have? Different wheel designs will have different spacing inside, but 285mm rotors fitted in the 15" Imolas with miles to spare, 300mm +Wilwood 4-pot fitted extremely marginally and weren't really practical. With the 16" Imolas I've got tons of space again.

When I tried fitting Chimaera wheels to my S3C, the rear tyres fouled the trailing arms, when checking the offset the rears (16")were et33 rather than the et25 that is standard for the S, Iwould think that you would need 8-10mm spacers on the rear the fronts will obviously fit ok
cheers.....Tony..

I dont follow this as if ET25 do, and ET33 dont, shouldn't it follow that ET43 wont? tumbleweed Could someone explain this as its unfamiliar territory to me

It does follow that ET43 won't fit on the rear.

The ET figure shows how far the wheel is inset. The standard wheels are 7" wide and ET25 (25mm inset). That means the centre line of the wheel is 25mm inset from the mounting flange. If you increase the inset then the inner edge of the wheel moves closer to the suspension. So if ET33 is too much then ET 43 (with the same width) is definitely too much.
