My mate did this to the sills on his VW Beetle, after about a year he had to cut out half the car as it had rusted!

Cheers

I was surprised when I was told by Dave at Tower View that is what he does after chassis repairs such as the one previously discussed.

I suppose it would depend on what foam you used and whether you had got all the moisture out of the tube before you did. Very difficult I would have thought !!

Hmmm…. Take your point about what would happen if water got in and could not get out. The old arms were full of mud. This will encourage moisture to seep in and be trapped. The expanding foam is just a load of bubbles so they are closed cells and therefore not permeable and the inner walls of the tubes will be coated with Waxoyle prior to foam filling so how will the water get in? My other idea was to paint internally with Waxoyle and turn up and fit aluminium bungs at the open end of the tube. I guess it comes down to either trying to stop water getting in or accepting that it will and just keep on top of the mud removal and re-Waxoyling every year.
