Has anyone got experience of having an S recarpeted? I'm considering having this done but would be keen to know of any particular problems or for that matter of someone experienced in doing the job (price would be handy!)

Cost me about £600 when I had my S3 done about two years ago. The trimmers who did it said they would never do another one again, and if they ever did they’d want about £1k. Apparently it took them ages to get the old carpets out, they were glued in so well they almost had to chisel them out! Did a good job though, although I did have to take it back because they had got the folds wrong around the point at which the back half of the hood folds back, this was restricting the hood from folding back as it should. Luckily I had, had the foresight to video the old carpets in situ so they simply amended the work to resemble the old carpets (A handy hint use a video camera before you take it anywhere, then they can’t argue that ‘it used to be like that’. The only real problem I had other than this was with the electric’s located in the passenger footwell (on the other side of the carpet). Not being electricians the trimmers were unwilling to remove these electric’s and reposition them on the new carpet. It would help therefore if you made them aware of this problem before fitting, you can then arrange for an electrician to be there when required. Hope this helps, believe me it makes all the difference when it has been done. Last thing I would say is make sure you go to a reputable trimmers who have pride in their work, ask to see photos of previous work done, it makes it easier to decide. Matt
