I'm looking to replace the speakers in my S2, it has 6 1/2" alpines in the back and 2 components in the doors, the alpines are nice, fairly clear but not much bass, as there's no room for a sub I was thinking of some better speakers in the back. I have pioneer in my mini, which are excellent but are 8" so I’m not sure if they'll fit. What do others have? Can anyone recommend any? I know they're great without the stereo but I like to be able to hear it when I’m cruising and on the motorway. I’m willing to spend up to a max of £200.

I’ve got myself some of the new TSE-2095 300w 3 ways from pioneer, they are similar to their old 8” but take more power, I will be trying to fit them in a month or so after I finish fitting the engine and bits in my mini.

No they won’t go in the doors, they are the same size as a small sub. I’ve been very busy but offered them up to the holes in the back and they should fit with a bit of work. Then I need a CD head unit and possibly some new front speakers.

I will probably go for a pioneer head unit, I like the sound they give, for a bit more maybe 150-200 you can get a really nice head unit, but its not worth paying the extra for the graphic display though, you listen to it not look at it. Yes the speakers should sound nice, I had a set in my mini which did quite well in the sound off comp’s, of course they were joined by amps, sub and a few other bits, all pioneer equipment except the amps. I was considering making a small box for the boot but two 8” speakers just behind my head should be plenty for now.

The box would need some kind of porting into the car, my mini has a MTX sub amp powering a 12” pioneer sub going through the back seat, very nice sound and had over 130dB. I took the stereo out of the mini so have it sitting there, I might get around to doing a install in the Tiv you never know.

If you find a local car audio specialist they should be able to fit them for not a lot.
