Forgot that the car reg. is just on the photos from the first S meet at Virginia Waters.
If you look at the top row middle picture its side on......but the one that counts is the bottom row on the right picture which shows the cars lined up after the little run we have to the pub. That shows my Reg just.
It also shows my arse as I leant into the car !!!!

Just checked in the 'bible' V6 S's have a final drive of around 26.66mph per 1000 rpm in top, so either;
1. You were doing 160mph
2. You have a non standard final drive ratio, different diff?
3. Your clutch is slipping.
4. Your rev counter is out.
My money's on number 2, wat do ya recon?
Harry
PS V8S final drive is around 24.5mph/1000rpm

I'd like to think it was number 1 !!
I haven't checked any of the figures as I leave that for the tech heads, but as Jas has designed his own close ratio box based on all of the data etc I will go with his figures.
Although I wouldn't trust any of the instrumentation in a TVR with my life so I reckon number 4 if anything. The final drive in my car is standard as far as I'm aware.
Cheers

My money's on Jas's calculation as well I'm afraid, as theres no way mines as high as 26.. with the S being advertised as a "140mph sportscar" this would also suggest that 23 is a bit closer...
..saying that perhaps Mark and I have got different final drives and the rest of you can do 160 although it would seem unlikely..
Cheers

I never said it could do 160 just that as its standard off the shelf Ford running gear it's has a highly geared 5th for economy and therefore has a theoretical maximum speed of about 160 @ 6000rpm, I was a little surprised that an S2 could reach max rpm in top given that fact.
Given that you've probably got 55 profile fitted this will reduce the gearing by 1%.
If it's wildly out then the tyre tables in the bible are all out then I did state at the beginning of my post I was quoting that as the reference.
Either way it was above the NSL
Out of interest Jas what final drive figures are you using as the end result of 140mph would still seem a little high, even the road testers of the day only managed to get just over 130 out of the S2 and that I would have imagined was with a factory prepared press car

60 profile tyres...
I have no idea about any of this.
Each to a corner please.....ding ding round one
Final Drive Ratio was 3.62:1
(Not 3.64:1 as quoted in the bible. I think that was a misprint as Ford never made a 3.64 diff according to a certain well known Race Transmission builder! In the Ford Scorpio workshop manual, it also states 3.62 as being the final drive ratio).
My calculations were based on Yokohama A520 road tyres at 60% profile.
As a side note, my car will pull 6000 RPM in 5th even if the car is going up a very, very slight hill. Interestingly it will not go past 6000 rpm even on a slight decline!
I've been clocked at 140 MPH by a friend in a Griff 500 also on his way to the dentist in Germany!
