Seat belt chime and/or light stays on

When i get in the car, my seat belt chime will stay on until i put the seat belt on but the light on the dash will not go off. can be annoying when driving at night.

Other times when i stop the car, pull out the key and take the belt off the chime will continue until i start the car up again and shutdown.

Any ideas of what the problem could be?

What yr. esprit do you have? I have the same sporadic issue with my 87 hci. Not very often, so I never worry about it. Sometimes after I turn off the engine, it keeps on, so I buckle the seatbelt and next time I'm in the esprit, it goes away.

I have a 94' s4.

i went away for two days and now it is back to normal (as of one drive)
but i will try to ask my mechanic and let you know if he has any ideas.
