Restaurant recommendations Mayfair.

I went out with a business contact in Mayfair last night and was surprised at how difficult it was to find a buzzing restaurant. In the end we ate at a hotel.

This evening we will have some children with us and would like a grill or Italian. Any suggestions please?

it depends on your budget to be honest. Del Finos, on Mount street is a really casual italian that basically only does pizza/pasta. Check out Mews of Mayfair as well as they have a Pizza place as part of their group. If you want to higher end, Goodmans is great for a steak and always packed. Sexy fish (Japanese) is also buzzing, but expensive. The Italian in Novikov are also nice with a good atmosphere. But as its mayfair, most places are expensive, but not exactly family orientated. The Guinea Grill is a slice of old school mayfair with a great atmosphere, but again not cheap. There are some great places, so you shouldn't need to eat in a hotel.

A short stroll to Soho would probably serve you better. Beak St/Kingly St full of buzzy restaurants that will be cheaper (in the main) and certainly funkier.

Thanks guys. I looked at some of the recs and thought they would be a bit steaky, but well worth a visit when I return solo or with just my wife. Also we were running out of time - we did not go out till 9.15. So in the end we ate at a Turkish I know in Southampton Row. Not great, but got everyone fed.
