yes, i went to look at a Lexus is200 today, the bumpers where very badly resprayed as well as dents all over the roof. I brought a mechanic friend which made them become very defensive, ontop of this the sales person that was with me informed me that he had "got 100 out of 5th" in the car i was test driving as well as trying to impress me by playing the stereo at a very high volume which further showed that the speakers where blown! it was obvious that the car had more history than stated, i walked away with the word "cowboys" ringing in my head.

I really wish we had found this forum before my son bought a car from Sam's motors Croydon. Beautiful VW Golf, looked good, drove OK. Took it to VW garage today to get it serviced, needs £1200 worth of work on the suspension etc. and stuff they said had been done, hadn't. I hope anyone wanting to buy their first car does not go to this place. We thought it was too good to be true, and it was. Paid £3k. Steer clear.

I so wish I had seen this site first.

Has anyone had any recently dealings with this garage in 2013? Any recent feedback? They have a car I'm interested in but these postings are quite concerning. Thanks.

Never buy a car in Croydon. It's a useful rule for life.

Never recommend Sam Motors Croydon to anyone.

The owner is not trustworthy, bought a car from there and was told the car is in excellent condition.

Drove it for the first time on the motorway and the under-tray fell down, i could have got into a serious accident. Called up Sam and reviewed the issue and he denied it all.

At the end I have to pay 1k worth of fitting.

As an update to this,i ended up taking Sam to court to get my money back and succeeded. It was a long hard road getting all the proof and i couldn't use the car for nine months but in the end it was worth it.If your not in the position to take him to court threaten him with it as id imagine that would be enough to put the wind up him to sort your issue.

Hi guys,

Bit distressed to read some of the above... I *was* planning on going to look a car there tomorrow! Seems too good to be true, if a little overpriced. Low miles, fsh, 1 owner. Looks mint. Think I might still go and have a look but does the above still stand?

Cheers.

Address is Brighton road,South Croydon btw,not Purley way.

As a Croydon worker,I wouldn't buy from any but a main dealer in this area.
