tvrBob and I are heading to PistonFest this year along with wildfireS3, anyone else planning to attend.

My plan currently is to leave Newcastle around 8:30 on Friday morn and join the Yorkshire lot in Wolley/Wooley Edge Services around 11 - I want to avoid the afternoon traffic as the Marlin doesn't idle well heat wise (unleaded conversion, restrictive bodywork by all accounts).

Anyone joining me in the drive down? I think Bob said he'd be leaving in the afternoon...

I hope to meet up with the Yorkshire lot earlier than Wooley Edge Services but still need to organise this. Last year we met up at the A1/A64 junction. By the way I'll be leaving in the morning too.

there is a layby there isn't there (if you are coming from the york direction. I recon me and PPS would be happy to meet there. Let us know.

So you are planning to meet Yorkshire lot and then hit Wooley Services?

I'll follow yourself down then Bob if you don't mind since you're planning on leaving in the Morning, I thought you were hitting afternoon...

You really need to stay with us. Map reading the Stratford end is not easy. Much better if you're following someone.

Having said that I did this last year and about fifty cars all got lost together.

50 cars got lost? Quality!

I know I need to stay with you, but the Marlin is not a uber-cruiser and 70/75mph is pretty much a limit physically and I can't go higher than this mentally due to licence reasons... if you disappear off I'll make my own way there - I can read maps and not frightened to ask for directions plus, one presumes more cars will be around to follow nearer the place.

Just make sure you know all our meeting points. Last year we stopped a couple of times further south to meet other groups. You could easily make up the gap there.

Haven't got my ticket yet as I 'm at home so need to see about work. I should be coming down, not sure about the camping yet. I seem to lack the important things, such as: tent, sleeping bag, basic camping stuff.

Can someone fill me in as to the whole, what you need to bring?

From what I understand at PF all you need to take is a bivvy bag (those big orange plastic survial bags - I think they are bivvy bags?).

Food is available via the food vans as is drinks. Spare clothes are optional

Personally to save some money when there and to make life a little more comfortable I plan to take
- a tent
- a sleeping bag
- some diluted juice, cans of pop
- a heater, small pans
- some basic food stuffs (Pasta in a bag for instance), chocolate biscuits...
- Some spare clothes, waterproof's...

I guess it's all to do with how comfortable you want to be.

I'm thinking it's also quite close to Statford, so if on Saturday night I want something better to eat I could head there (handy not drinking ), there is of course a passenger seat for anyone as well.

The tent is only somewhere to crash. You're not going to get much sleep anyway because we party all night and fuelled with beer we can get a little loud, do donuts and check who has the loudest exhaust.

Essentials include:

• Tent or space to crash in someone else's

• Sleeping bag

• Change of clothes and a PH t-shirt

• Money for food (food isn't cheap at these events)

• Beer and lots of it (believe me if you don't have this you'll be kicking yourself)

• A ticket and car pass

• Sun block, you'll be outside all the time

• Something to sit on

Tsk Bob, you've not really thought carefully enough have you...?

The bare essentials include:

• Tent the size of a 4 bed detached house, double airbed and proper pillows. The quilt will take up too much beer space, will have to make do with feather filled sleeping bag.

• Change of clothes; complete wardrobe with co-ordinating PH accessories.

• Food - Alka Seltzer and the ingredients for a full fry-up.

• Champagne, G&T, Wine and Beer and lots of it

Oh and Earplugs could be useful.

Oh yes I have. My list is similar to yours. I was making suggestions for docevi1 and wildfireS3. I, like you, have the benefit of experience from last years PF. Comfort is an essential for me too. I like the 'earplug' idea though. I'll be adding that one to my list.

Slightly O/T

Before we set off for PF I'll pass out one of my mobile numbers. I'm sure a few of the others will do the same. It makes keeping the group together a little easier and can be incredibly helpful if you find yourself lost.

Good plan Jo. I tend to do this when we NEPHers go tootling about the countryside. I've always found it difficult hearing the mobile though. V8 is too noisy (not)
