I've worked out that it's 87.3 miles to the A1/A64 junction and should take 1:33:35 at normal speed (70).
I'll be setting off from home at 09.00 once I've dropped the kids off at school at 08.50.
This is down to military precision. Hopefully nothing will F**k up on the way, but if it does, woolley edge services is programmed into the GPS and I should catch up with you there.
Failing that, the actual racetrack is listed on the GPS aswell, so I'll catch up with you eventually. Mind you, my route planner sometimes takes me through farmers tracks, which is ok in the jeep, but not ideal for a TVR.

Diaster! The Marlin is fooked to a certain extent.
Top speed is now limited to 60mph ish - I have a terrible juddering when you hit 70mph. Should still be able to make it, but I'll be following you all at a distance I reckon unless something wonderful occurs in the next few hours.
(I've had the wheel's balanced to within 0.1g, tracking sorted and am trying to call MOC and various other places for help).

Well I'm fooked. Holiday cancelled, so instead of sitting in a field in Stratford talking about cars and drinking beer, I'll be sitting in an office in London trying not to fall asleep and talking about data centres instaead.
Not happy. So please don't wait for me at the A64.
Possibly I might drive down on Saturday, by myself

Is it an engine problem or a suspension issue?
Suspension/Steering, although not sure, as I say the wheels were balanced, checked, double checked and then checked again. I'm sure it's not engine as 3k5 revs in 1/2/3rd don't offer the same problems, it's top speed and is only felt through steering.
The only thing I think it could possibly be is the tie-rod bushes not tight enough or settling in as different road surfaces and cornering stop it (we replaced them this week). All started with the replacement and a puncture. Typical! Braking is fine however.

Stefan, is it possible that something has changed on the rotating hub? I once had a car that had to have the wheels balanced on the hub because the hub had an imbalance. Is it drums at the front? If so then the drum itself could have lost a balance weight.
We are starting to wonder that as well, although we tightened the left tie-rod up (considerably, last night it was tight) destroying the spring washer in the process and the vibration is lessened and might more specific on speed (i.e. just above 70mph).
One presumes that over time the bushes will bed in and the vibration will lessen. It's discs on the front but since they were all out so much I'm wondering if they need balancing on the car.
Still, it's working well enough to drive so I'll be at PF with it (it's packed now and lunch is made ) just slower than I had planned.
