Travelling back along the A19 from Ryhope just before lunch about a mile or so infront what was presumably the engine of a van in front 'let go'...I didnt think it would be possible for any vehicle to produce such quantities of thick blue/white smoke! It reduced visibility on both sides to about 10m or so....strange thing was, when I passed the van which had made it to a layby (I could just make out the shape of a van!) it sounded like the engine was revving flat out...? Throttle jammed? Maybe it jammed and this is what blew the engine? Hope it didnt cause any bumps...
Anyway...on the way back...red E-type Jag convertible near the Angel - looked gorgeous.
Called in at the Merc garage (yet another issue with my C-class...to be told that it needs 'another' set of injectors and a new 'flap') where they have a demo. SL and SLK that both look a lot better than I thought they did! Especially the matt white SLK AMG V8!
...and finally, a white new shape 911 joining the A1 near Scotswood - again, it looked a lot better than I thought having only seen it in pictures. Being driven very sedately too...

Was it not a diesel where it runs itself from an oil leak or something?Cant remember the correct term for it.

Cant remember the correct term for it.
Know what you mean, the turbo starts pulling the oil through from the engine and just keeps running flat out till it blows, cant remember the term for it either!!Cant remember the correct term for it.

Hmmm...not heard of that before...? Would explain it though....presumably turning the ignition key would not stop it as surely it's the first thing you would do once you got it to a safe place?I couldn't believe the smoke bellowing out of the thing!

Switching the ignition off cuts electricity - which diesels don't need...I couldn't believe the smoke bellowing out of the thing!
