Interesting post. I agree, it doesn't matter what you drive to be a petrol head.

Celebrating a poorly modified car is something else though and don't get too worked up as its only my opinion.
Everyone's entitled to an opinion and i wouldn't have a problem if that was what was being discussed. I don't like that because the bodykit is not to my taste etc. As i've said its not my taste and i personally don't like it but poorly modified it is not. I mentioned scooby's as in 20 years time when someone spots a scooby 22b, P1 or RB5 will it suddenly be badly modified as it looks its age and probably has collected some badly judged aftermarket mods along the way or will it still be something special built by one of the most successful companies in world rally, a company which gave us two British rally champions? Would it be worth telling someone who is interested but unaware of the company a little history of Prodrive there exploits in rally, BTTC, F1, GT racing and even Aston martin? Or would it just be better to say that looks a bit tired now and i don't like what they've done to the inter cooler so im not going to tell you and instead just call it sh*t.

I work a lot with rally companies as a result of being involved with the Richard Burns Foundation and i was able to recognize that as a bodykit supplied by one of the most respected companies in rally prep for Italian cars. As the guy who posted it was interested surely its worth passing on some information on the company responsible. Again if you've read what was posted there was no mention of that actual car indeed i started by pointing out i have no knowledge of that particular car. What was written was a short bit of history of the company who made those kits in order to take the Uno rallying something they did with some success. This is not celebrating or indeed raving it is the passing on of knowledge to an interested party something pistonheads used to be great for the passing on of knowledge about cars.

I really don't see why you felt the need to express your opinions in such a derogatory manner. As was said would you walk up to the owner and say his car was crap to his face or would you just ignore him and the car? If you wouldn't walk up to a stranger and tell him his car looked crap in person why do it when hid behind a keyboard? I really don't see the problem with someone posting a pic of a car on an internet discussion about spotting cars. if you don't like it and can't express the reason why in a grown up and adult manner just don't comment on it. There's lots of cars that get posted here that im not a fan off as i mentioned i have driven the F-Type and didn't like it so should i make personnel comments about people who post i spotted a new F-Type today?

Have a look at your the first response again

Hang on a minute, what are the words I'm searching for? Oh yeah, it's a st box. Seriously, what does that inter cooler look like, let alone the chav body kit?

In the immortal words of Brian Potter, have you ever kissed a girl?
Something along the lines of that's a pretty terrible looking bodykit and whats the inter cooler doing there would of been fine. Indeed your later response is much more what these boards should be about a discussion on the merits of the car. However that first comment is an uncalled for and childish post. To ask the original poster if he's ever kissed a girl in response to a picture of a car is unnecessary to put it mildly.

Its that kind of post that stops knowledgeable people contributing to these forums as they don't wish to deal with such people and remarks. As I've said i'm involved in motorsport and know many people whose knowledge on all things automotive would be a great asset to the north east section of pistonheads but when the subject is raised its this kind of comment that is cited as the reason they won't get involved.

To get this back to cars spotted in my local Tesco earlier. Dwarfed everything far to big to fit in one space. No idea what it is other than a Cadillac but it looked like something form a Tarantino film

I seem to have seen quite a few interesting things around the NE this weekend.

Yesterday a Gallardo Spider sans roof and an Aston Rapide stood out.

Today an E30 M3, a different Rapide and a wonderfully metallic orange Elise have been today's high points.

I found it an amusing response, if people won't use an Internet forum because they're afraid of a bit of harmless ribbing from a stranger then they're no great loss.

One of the great things about PH has always been the banter between posters, some who know each other some who don't, why things are taken so personally by a few I'll never know.

Sat at the lights on Collingwood street whilst this 458 lurked behind. He gave it the beans down the street, that raucous V8 echoing off the buildings - lovely.

Not sure what it was but a classic car involved in a crash eastbound on the a66 near Brough yesterday morning, i thought it was a volvo p1800 (mangled front) but seemed to be shooting brake style rear end, so not sure now.

I hope nobody involved was injured and hope its repairable
