Just like to add in case anyone missed my original post that there is a truvelo on the northbound stretch of the A167 (Durham Road) in Birtley, near the fire station. Doesnt look like its live yet as its still got a cover over the lens, but it will be soon enough.

Also, there are plans to put cameras on Ponteland Road (Cowgate), Stamfordham Road and West Road, all in Newcastle.

I was down in Birtley last night, but not as far down as the fire station.

So now thats another two to add to the TomTom navigator That one and a truvelo on Old Durham Road going from Gateshead.

Travelling through Gateshead on Saturday, I saw the Scamera Van parked up at the bottom of Old Durham Road. Said to the wife "Look, there's that scamming b'stard"

Missus said "Ohh, is that what he is? I've passed him a few times on the felling by-pass and thought he was controlling the traffic lights on the overpass."

It's a bloody good job she doesn't speed that much, dozy bugger.

all the sites are listed www.safespeedforlife.com/fixed.asp, and most are fairly accurate as well.

Safe Speed For Life said:

The cameras operate effectively in poor light conditions, including at night, in fog, and also in rain and snow without the beam being refracted by water drops. This enables the roadside patrols to be available to assist motorists more often and for longer during winter months when road conditions are generally more hazardous, road surfaces are often slippery and driving at a safe and slower speed becomes even more important

ASSIST???? Who the hell do they think they are - the fifth friggin emergency service? They don't ASSIST the motorist at all!

I'll bloody ASSIST them by ramming their LTI-20/20 where the bloody sun NEVER shines

Looks like the 2 on the way into Newcastle have had the lens caps removed now but the scamership still felt it necessary to have a van on the bridge after the camera "ASSISTING" traffic heading towards Newcastle

Has anybody submitted these cameras to the national databases (eg Origin, Road angel, Pocket gps) yet?

Yep they have been there for the last 2 weeks, sitting on the roundabout at the end of Chillingham road.

Apparently the Northumbria partnership passes on their camera site info to Trafficmaster for them to add to their databases

Just been checking up on the Truvelo Cameras. If you look just in front of it there is are 3 white lines across the road. Sensors are dug into the road 1.8 metres in front of that. As long as your down to the limit by the time you drive over the dug in sensors you havent been caught (apparently)
