Lakes Invasion 30th October

The plan is set for a jolly good day out old chap.
- Meet at Reghed centre (the underground petrol station just off the M6, J40) to leave 10:30AM. Cars travelling to the centre from similar locations can set up their own convoys.
- Leave and travel towards Keswick before entering the Lake District National Park to take in spectacular scenery. I'd be expecting plenty of stops to take photos of the cars and take in the scenery.
- Take the vehicles over the testing Hardknott and Wrynose passes and bask in their glory.
- Stop in either Ambleside or Keswick for an early tea before travelling home in seperate parties.
A couple of points:
- This won't be a fast drive, most of the roads are single track, tight and very twisty, average speeds will be kept very low in comparison to previous events. - this is more about location and taking photos / sight seeing than driving.
- You'll need to fill up in Reghed before we set off.
- The passes are 1st gear jobs and will test the cooling and braking systems of your cars - make sure they are working properly
- I'm expecting a light packed lunch?

As I'm only just back on my feet after a mystery ailment there's very little chance of me having the car fixed in time.
Hmm, I can occasionally get 1st, and the cooling system is a bit of a time bomb.
A breakdown in the middle on the Lakes on a single track road probably wouldn't go down too well.

This would be good for me.
As it's just up the road I think I'd better be in... hopefully for the first half anyway - I have mates coming up from the smoke so will have to absent myself at some stage.
I'll be in the RS6 so rain doesn't matter (but I think the rain cheque idea is good, 'cos if it IS nice weather the colours are just turning (pic taken yesterday) >>

Knowing what the weather has been like this year I would suggest a 'rained off' clause. Final decision to go will be made 28th Oct for example. We could even have a back-up date so that the opportunity isn't lost.
I'm glad I didn't suggest it either Hows about making a decision by the 28th, if it looks really bad rather than just overcast we'll cancel and aim for the 6th November (next weekend)?
Count me out, I'm afraid, as
1. I've (finally) got a job

...but it means I work evenings & weekends
and
2. The bonnet fell off last week, making me think that it really is time to sort that car out properly, so the car's now in bits in the garage, none of which I have the first idea of how to put back together again (oops)

Sorry that's kind of my fault. I was getting mawds to show me that great Lotus Twin cam under it, then the bonnet fell off. When I looked at it, it looks pretty easy to get it back on Alex.
Half the bonnet fell of when you were here....
Then the other half fell off when I attempted to work out why the first half had fallen off.
Only a couple of bent washers (the RH bonnet hinge mounting hole is (in true TVR fashion), several holes drilled next to one another and filed into a slot), but sometimes it just takes a little thing like that to say "now is the time to fix this properly".
