Just toying with this again. I'm not going to organise it into something more than it is. I learned well from last years attempt. Saturday 20th May or Saturday 11th June 2005. Everyone is welcome. No rules, just fun.

  • Tour starts in the Gateshead/Newcastle area say 08:00

  • Off to the boarders and into the Highlands

  • Ben Nevis for 12:00 for lunch

  • Off to Cumbria

  • Scarfell Pike evening meal, say 18:00

  • Head south down the west coast

  • Candle lit supper on the slopes of Snowdon around midnight

  • Cross country, scenic route through Derbyshire to the North York Moors

  • Early breakfast somewhere

  • Back to the starting point for 08:00

1,000 mile round trip in 24 hours

I would suggest you allow people to join and leave after a short while - I wouldn't do 1000miles, but might go up to the borders with you...

Suggest decent meeting points in town as well I can

I have some experience of staying awake for long periods of time. A second driver will be required if it's a non-stop tour as trying to do it by yourself would be suicide. By 3 o'clock in the morning, your concentration would be nil.

If I can get my mate to do it with me, then I'll give it a shot.

Agree, second driver is an absolute must. Byff you don't sounds as positive as you did last time round.

Do you have to do the trip in 24hrs?

I may do depending on where in the country I am and if I can get a second driver. Although getting someone else put on the Tiv's insurance could be a bit of a killer, as would putting me on someone else's.

I'm just as positive, however we still have the same problems as last time - they haven't really been resolved.

I normally go without sleep on a Monday, from Monday morning, 08:00 thru to 06:00 on Tuesday morning and let me tell you, it aint no picnic. I'm used to it now but for anyone having not done anything like that, it'll be hard on the body, mind and soul.

Still - Sign me up.
