Shafto's is a pub just outside Spennymoor, about 10mins drive from Junction 61 of the A1.

Meet up for a chat/drink

From the A1 Motorway

At junction 61 take the A688 "Spennymoor".

After joining it, follow A688 "Spennymoor" over 4 roundabouts.

At the 5th roundabout, take the 4th exit, right, "Spennymoor Town Centre".

At the next major roundabout turn left, first exit, "A688 Bishop Auckland"

After ¾ mile turn right at the traffic lights following brown signs "Whitworth Hall Hotel" which is on the right after 1½ miles.

From Durham

From the A690 towards Crook take the first left after Brancepeth Village.

Following the brown signs "Whitworth Hall Hotel" which is on the left after 2 miles.

I fully recommend speaking to Alan Connelly of Wylam Garage!

So what colour did it turn out to be? My car is black, but officially it's either 'Anthracyte' or even 'adriatic blue' if I'm feeling posh....

They don't know, apparently the colour thats on there isn't a "colour" but simply a mixture the original sprayer made up - it will be impossible to get the same colour again cheaply.

So it has a Mercedes dark blue on as that was the nearest match, I'm yet to see in the light mind

Well I trust is matches then. What else did you have done?

ps if ChrisJ is watching, how is your engine? I know you do other things on thursday, but from someone who's seen it in the flesh, would be nice to see the marcos on the road again. Any progress?

Shall I invite all the lotus owners from work??

I got the bonnet fixed, replaced the running board, and had the windscreen surround de-rusted and resprayed (it would appear they forgot to spray underneath after they had prepped it mind).

Next job for me is to jack the back of the car up, clean up all the metal by removing the flaky rust and coat the whole lot in POR 15 to make it good for the Winter, Re-stick the roof and generaly fiddle on

I'm definitely out for next Thursday. I'm off to London on business for the weekend. Train or TVR, not sure which yet.

I'm putting mine up on stands this weekend to hammerite and waxoil.
Rear end and off side front done. Should finish front near side today. Looks like I'll be there in my p&j and I won't be worried about wet roads and TVR outriggers. I wish TVR would use something more flexible to paint the wheel arch framework. Hammerite and stone chips don't mix.

I'll be there around 19:30 provided I don't get lost again.

Bob, get hold of some Por 15, I'm told it's be bee's nonexistent knees when it comes to protecting against rust and stone-chips et al.

I'm going to be doing the same with mine in a couple of weeks (when I get some spare time)

Don't you have to wash off the Waxoyl first if using POR15?

you have to wash off the Waxoil, and scrub back any hammerite already applied before you put the Por 15 on. But it unlike Hamerite it is chip resistent & binds to rust.
