It's been ages since I've been through the Tyne Tunnel. We could do with the next meet-up being somewhere close and we can do a Tyne Tunnel run, a bit like the very first NEPH meet-up.

Interesting idea. The next monthly meet is on 29th August; the date was set before I knew this was August bank holiday. I honestly believe Shafto's will be full that night so perhaps we should do something different for a change.

Any ideas folks? (preferably including the tunnel)

How's about doing a video night. Get an assortment of exotica, 1 quiet car, preferably a convertible to be used for videoing panoramic views and as the video car goes southbound through the tunnel, the hoard can go northbound, hopefully passing where it's flat and straight in the middle.

We could meet up at McD's on the Silverlink.

I'm all for the run through the tunnel but I draw the line at having to go to McDonalds !

What about going another 1/4 mile up the road to the 'Shiremoor House Farm' Pub. Good grub, it sells beer, and the car park is suitable too.

What day are you thinking about?? ( I'll not be back home until Thursday).

A trip further afield would be nice. I haven't been to any of the Shafto's meets yet. Its a bit of a busmans holiday (only a few miles up the road, hardly gets the engine warm) and I always forget once I get in from work and put my comfy slippers on.

Any chance of meeting on a weekend during daylight hours? I love a gawp at nice cars and theres only 4 to 5 months of the year its possible at 7pm!

There are loads of runs on weekends. Check the NE and Yorkshire forums.

You mean to say you don't like pressed badger?

I can't see any probs with going to the pub instead, at least it should serve decent food and it'll make a change from Shaftoes and their hospitality can't be any worse

Oh, don't get me wrong.....I enjoy most food ( even a pressed badger) but McDonalds just isn't 'food' !

Not sure if the Shiremoor house farm serves grub in the evening, but its always got good trade through the day. Seems a more sensible place to meet.

Failing that we could head to Tynemouth and go to the chippie!

Leave 'Ronalds Place' for the Chavs eh.

What day / Time ??

Sounds like a plan. Being a Redcar lad I really don't know the roads around there so someone else will need to find us a route.

Anyone fancy planning a road run?

The only rules for making a good run are
  • Easy to find meeting place

  • Keep junctions to a minimum

  • Absolutely no traffic lights and pelican crossings

  • Fast camera free roads

  • Safe parking if we need to leave the cars unattended

there is bugger all in the way of that down that way Bob. Best bet would be to head to Tynemouth or similar (through the tunnel, turn right on coast road) and park up down there. It's lax-power central but it's nice (ish) scenery & big car parks.

Could you cobble together a plan for us?

I'll tag along if it's gonna be soon (if you don't mind!). Sounds like a cracking idea.

Don't forget the reason I want to do this is to make a bit of a video Stefan. We'll need plenty of locations where the camera can catch the action, then catch up and film the next bit etc.
