GRIFFINS HEAD PAPPLEWICK - 1st and 3rd Wednesdays

I guess it must be difficult especially when they are trying to run a business also. These meets must bring in a fair bit of revenue so having someone saying your car isnt good enough might rub people up the wrong way. Its like the landlord only letting attractive girls in the pub
I thought it always ran to the un-written rule of "Decent" cars in the middle, Then people who'd turned up in dailys etc to just park around the edge so they weren't in the way.MFN always had it planned quite well, Normal cars on the field, Decent cars and bikes on the car park.
The potential problem with Griffins Head now is that the tent takes up a quarter of the space, It will be mayhem when it is summer and busy!
Although I loved the Jacked up Mini last night!

keelerad]I got there between 1830 and 1900 and it was almost full then/quote said:
I got there a little later and it pretty much was full....but a quarter of the cars in the field were just run of the mill hatchbacks and daily sheds.
I remember this meet from the very beginning and it was originally just 'classics & sports' now its attracting a wider audience and its losing its appeal, unless they start putting some sort of 'quality control' on the gate I'm going to give it a miss.
What was up with it Steve? I couldn't get, but from the piccies it looks ok. Was there a lot of ste there as well??I remember this meet from the very beginning and it was originally just 'classics & sports' now its attracting a wider audience and its losing its appeal, unless they start putting some sort of 'quality control' on the gate I'm going to give it a miss.
Well ill be along on the 19th June. As long as its dry. Either in the GT3 RS or CSL or both if the misses want to give chase in the BM. We have been looking at houses in the area so its an excuse to check the area out too.
Come and say hello if you see us milling about the car.

A lot of ste, hate sounding 'elitist' but when there's no parking spaces because of Saxo's, Astras, Micras, etc and a lot 'scene' cars, I guess I've out grown the event, liked when it was a small informal meet policed by Counciler Mick and everyone was kept in check, still some nice cars there but it's just got a bit 'Chavy', more 'siteseers than owners', I might pop along again but more tempted to do one of the smaller meets over at some Derbyshire pubs. raceboy said:

Tent will be going soon!
How do you know this C1RVY? Are you connected with the Griffin's Head?If so, maybe your could put yourself forward for marshalling the cars that arrive since a few people are getting disappointed by the presence of Saxos and Astras.
I'd hate to think enthusiasts are turned off because a few people can't be bothered to park off site.
Perhaps a small committee might be in order to organise the events with some themes or something?

I'm not around for many of the Weds eve meets, but it would be a crying shame if nice cars are put off because of some Chav metal. Could someone not speak to them directly?

Another good turn out with a really good mix of cars.
I think it's difficult to hold these events without attracting those interested in cars as well as those fortunate enough to own them.
My classic was in the garage getting some TLC so had to go in my daily (nearly classic) driver. Not the same but good to know I was not turned away.
Not sure what the answer is with events like these but long my they continue!
