Shelsley Walsh Sunday breakfast meet now paid ticket only
Discussion
Was it really difficult to let the first cars ithat arrive into the paddock then the rest in the field? As mentioned above, if people arrived in the daily they happily went and put it in the field themselves. People turned up in all types of car and if they were proud of it, why not? I loved seeing someone's RS Turbo parked next to a bmw i8.
I can't lose the cynic hat over this one. It's got popular and, as a result, some of the MAC 'in crowd' haven't been able to park where they wanted. Therefore, plan in advance so the 'right people' dont have to go to the effort of getting up early as they know their space is being kept warm for them.
Use the excuse of some hooligans turning up every month and subsequently introduce your new system which allows you to cream a few extra quid off everyone. Got to be a good couple of grand to be made out of this each month.
I'm really not impressed by this. Hopefully Prescott will respond with opening up for a few more months per year.

Been there many times , but this is too much hassle.
A shame as ironically my past Orange Evora is one of the cars on their image for the Breakfast club, I've taken the XBOW their numerous times and was looking forward to taking the GT40 replica there this year.
Ah well, off to lookup Prescott dates

Let me know what dates you do Prescott, I would love to see the GTDA shame as ironically my past Orange Evora is one of the cars on their image for the Breakfast club, I've taken the XBOW their numerous times and was looking forward to taking the GT40 replica there this year.

I saw this on the Shelsley Walsh Facebook account.
I can see what they are trying to do, but I think it is going to backfire on them unfortunately. They've had a few incidents this year with some people turning up in 'Max Power' type cars and using the surrounding roads as a race track. Understandably, some of the neighbors are less than impressed, so they've had to do something to counter it.
I don't think this is the answer though. Like a lot of people, I decided whether I am going about 24 hours in advance, so booking more than a week ahead is a no-go for me.
It's a shame really as it is usually a good event with a nice bunch of people. Hopefully they will reconsider and look at alternative solutions.
Chavs spoil everything, we had a classic car meet at a local pub who had a couple of footie pitches to park on. It ran for a while with no hassle and a nice mix of 50 , 60 . 70 and 80s classics. The event got more popular , the chavs started rolling up , racing doing burnouts etc. Soon after the pub stopped it. Was the chav / max power crowd becoming a major issue then? I can honestly say I saw nothing at all of it, and I was going pretty regularly?
Never saw one issue at all with "chav/max power" (which in itself is such an outdated term) cars of behaviour. Always been a nice mix of cars at the breakfast club meets.Although we have witnessed some of the "in group" turning up very late in the morning, having the gate opened and parking in the paddock.
We overheard some derogatory comments about our group of cars while walking around...
"I wouldn't bother looking over there, just a bunch of chav shopping cars"
"So much for real enthusiasts"
Heres our bunch
Not the most exoctic, but each well regarded, well looked after, drivers cars in their own right.
A bit disappointing really when half the charm of the breakfast club meets is the variety on display. I spent more time walking around the field in the last few meets than I did in the paddock.
Iv been going to Shelsley events in some for or another since I was a child, in fact some of my earliest motorsport memories are being on my dads shoulders at various hillclimb events so its a shame to experience a further slide in the charm of it all.
Anyone know the dates of other local meets similar to this?

Not sure how the new system would change this. The ticketing is only for the paddock, and if you preferred the field over the paddock I think it will still be the same.Guess we'll have to see how the first ones go.

well im booked in, to see what its like but its a real pain in the arse and could be the last time i attend
The way I understand it though is that the booking is only for the paddock. Given the fantastic cars that appear in the Shelsley car parks over the years I don't see it as a hardship to also park there.I have my e-ticket for this month, it remains to see if I bother again but I don't have a problem with parking where I normally park when I attend a hillclimb.

My opinion is that the meet is for any car that is cherished by its owner, regardless of make, age, price, etc. Pretty sure that you love your car as much as I do mine.Although we have witnessed some of the "in group" turning up very late in the morning, having the gate opened and parking in the paddock.

MAC did send out an email last year about respecting the neighbours and I believe that a Peugeot did a massive number 11 in the road when leaving. Probably drove the Chav reference as to who spoils this sort of event.
I too have seen similar events closed down. It is usually a typical sort of driver rather than a particular make of car. A quick look on You Tube will pull up anything from Ferraris to Fiestas being written off doing spectacular exits.
Just my 10 pence worth. Other opinions are also valid.
