Fiesta stolen from our driveway without keys, Birmingham
Discussion
Some bottom feeders broke into and stole (without keys) my other half's Fiesta from our driveway in Bournville last night, while we were in the house. And by last night, I mean sometime between 8:30-9:00pm. Car details:
BV15 KCX
Ford Fiesta Titanium
3 door
Deep Impact Blue
To rub salt into the wounds, by better half had only just filled the tank! We cannot quite believe this happened. I can't help but think the car was targeted given the risk of stealing it where/when they did. It's a relatively busy road, we have a security light, neighbours are close, and it was bin night, so people are typically in and out on the street through the evening.
A few friends have commented on facebook (in another attempt to raise the profile) that this has happened to a few fiestas with keyless entry recently. Is this a thing?! And if so, what will the car be used for?!
Needless to say, please keep you eyes peeled and DM me, or contact West Midlands Police should you spot it. And if you have a Ford with keyless entry, maybe consider a steering wheel lock!

It's a thing I'm afraid. The focus and fiesta of all types (especially ST and RS) are one of the most stolen vehicles to be stolen via keyless methods at the moment.Birmingham is especially bad for this.
Chances are,you won't see it intact again as it's more than likely been stolen for its parts.Quite a few stolen ST's are turning up on false plates, sold on for a few hundred quid or used to commit further crime.
If you do decide to get another, consider aftermarket security as a priority. You can google options...

As said, incredibly common with push button start fords, especially in Birmingham, usually one or two a day! Usually stripped to parts before you've even noticed its stolen. The police did find a warehouse in Birmingham a few weeks back full of stolen cars, mostly Focus ST's & RS's.
Best bet is to invest 80 quid in a disclok

Thanks for the replies. Still shocked it happened in the way it did, and needless to say, we haven't heard anything on the car.
To rub salt into the wounds, the badge on the front of my car was hacked off while parked at the station today. Utterly pointless and hugely annoying! I hope this is just bad luck on our part. Keep an eye on your cars though!

The exact same thing happened to my BiL's keyless Fiesta (14 reg) in Birmingham.
Someone came up to the door whilst it was parked, did something, drove off, came back 15 minutes later and the car just opened for him and started.
Scary that it's so easy to steal these cars. Surely Ford (and other manufacturers) should have done a recall by now to close what I assume is a software issue.

Keyless cars are quite easy to steal, even without the keys - and it's not isolated to any particular brand.
Sadly, you need a disklok (which somewhat defeats the object of keyless entry / go).
I've heard tales that some companies wont insure for theft without a disklok, although thankfully not a condition stipulated on us.

I had to reply ... I live in northfield and my blue ford fiesta titanium keyless was also stolen off my drive ....oooo and on bin night aswell om January 3rd 2017.... great start to the new year.... I acturally heard the machine they use it sounded like a firework... followed by smashed glassed which made me look out my window to acturally see my car being driven off bast Ards. ...heartless because my babies car seat was in the passages seat ....
4 days later the police found all my letter and things which was in my glove compartment it was found in a garden up bournville.
7 days late I had a call to say they have found my car.... After a chase with a 17 year old. My car tumbled hit a hedge and that was the end of it... I couldn't even go and view my car I had my dad deal with everything.
Horrible feeling I have a newer car which is also keyless... I had installed wifi camara now...an alarm and a steering wheel lock but you can help but be paranoid every single little noise I feel like they are coming back. Did you ever hear anything about your fiesta.

Sorry to hear that and have the police recovered it yet?
My audi was stolen in my office car park in birmingham last november at 2pm. I got the cctv footage and i could see a car drive into the carpark. Park nxt to my audi and then 2 guys jump out and then spent 20 minutes breaking into it. They then changed both sets of numberplates for both their own car and my audi and drove off..
Luckily a week later the police told me they had found the car in solihull but with sledgehamners in boot and £7k worth of damage.
But after 3 months at audi and bodyshop i finally got it back.

There seems to be a lot of similar car theft going on in south Birmingham at the moment.
Where I live (Moseley) there is a particular theme for carjacking from women as they approach or leave their cars. One particular scrote even gave the victim her handbag back as he got in the car to drive it off!

6 years ago on a bp forecourt on a45 near sparkbrook i got surrounded by 3 balaclava wearing men.they tried to open my doors but luckily i always ensure my car is locked if im in it. One guy took a gun out and waved it at me . i just floored it and drove to police statiion. They didnt get caught.
Seems to be lots of car jackings and thefts in the region. Always lock the doors if you are in the car and buy steering lock or an obd port lock.

Someone really needs to invent a system that isn't keyless. Perhaps with a key that physically needs to integrate with the vehicle to work. A really smart design would be one where there was a hole in the dashboard to keep the key when in use and better still the key could be turned to start and stop the car, thus removing the need for a separate button.
Crazy talk I know.
