So. Ummm. The seller got to 2 weeks before completion then asked for 30k more. We are in for a few hundred on searches etc but I've walked away. So we are looking again. Seeing a couple more on weds.
Annoyed yes. Angry ranting no. There's always another house. Takes deep breath.
System in England needs an overhaul IMHO

Offer in on Friday. Full asking price. Vendor wanted to think about it over the weekend
Agent phoned today and have chain checked the two we have sold. So looked promising this morning. Not heard anything since. So fingers crossed.
As a rather amusing aside. I haven't even see the house, only the better half has. Oh the issues that could cause inthe future

I wouldn't rule out looking a little bit East of there (Wreake Valley as mentioned earlier). Some nice property, quiet and about the same travel time to get to the A46 as Cropston/Swithland/Newtown Linford, etc.
This is a friend's house, not far from me, he's moving to a bigger place in the same village, it's an idyllic spot and such a nice house. He's a petrolhead, too. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop...Prob 30 mins from there to leicester station, but also 30 mins drive with zero traffic on lovely roads to Mkt Harboro station which is on the same mainline to London (and also cross crountry line from Brum to Stansted). A really good spot for transport despite the rural location.
Carrington Arms nearby has vintage bike nights, cricket, good beer.
Much like my search for a car which I've just updated the house move has been a LONG time coming - we sold our house over 12 months ago but for one reason and another here we still are. However, fingers and toes crossed the move to Cropston looks like it finally on first week of July! Never, ever again!!
