Sorry mate, but you deserve to get your arse kicked for doing that sort of speed in a 30mph zone. I'm no expert, but imagine you'll be having a few points on your licence and possibly a ban. What were you thinking? If you want to drive fast, find some nice country roads where you can have fun and test your driving skill. Given your lack of concern for the safety of others, perhaps that would not be such a good idea either.

If you can live without the motor for a while, suggest surrendering license when get court date, and booking yourslef in for a few advanced courses etc. Have you done PassPlus? If not, might help the bea=ks to believe that you actually give a sh1t.

Alterntively let them publish your address in the magistrates court and we'll all come round and chop your bollox off for being a numpty. It's muppets like you who give driving at speed a bad name, in a 30 its utterly uncondonable, and at that speed, dangerous, you should be shot
What you trying to prove, your motorised roller-skate is actually a quick car? Maybe when race prepped and in the hands of someone like Colin Turkington or any of the other drivers who cut their teeth racing Festers, but (presumably) thru B'ham city centre, get a life and stop wasting Ted's bandwidth.
FFS 30 limits are there for a reason, even in this money grabbing Scamera infested country, as Emma said if you want to drive fast, get out into NSL and make sure theres no-one else around for when you mess up and put your car thru a hedge, cos you will, virtually everyone does at 17, the lucky ones walk away.

Ok Sandeep, now that you have been totally humiliated by us, it is time to think of a course of action. May I suggest that you take a look at the Institute of Advanced Motoring web site:

and consider joining your local group. You will be taught how to drive safely and with skill. You will also learn how to drive fast properly on country roads so hopefully you will have a whale of a time and avoid becoming part of the hedge decoration. I am currently doing the course and I love it. Contrary to popular belief they are not at all stuffy and anti-speed. I've had such fun driving out with three different observers (one is actually a member of this forum.) It will be also be good preparation for getting an Imprezza when you can eventually afford the insurance

Then you deserve everything you get.
I would hazard a guess that the majority of PH'ers exceed 30mph speed limits on a regular basis (myself included)
But not by that amount.
I am not jumping on the "Speed Kills" bandwagon were, but to be driving at approximately 60mph in a 30mph limit means that you are likely to be involved in a accident that will leave someone with injuries sooner rather than later.
Yes, I remember what it was like to be 17 years old, and have the freedom of driving for the first time... but that is no reason to develop a leaden right foot.
If you *have* been caught, then expect the punishment to be heavy, and the sympathy to be thin on the ground.
If you haven't, then count yourself lucky, and treat this incident as a steep learning curve.

If you are lucky, and they didnt zap you, you may have gotten away with it.
Take on board all the comments listed above.
Doing twice the speed limit in a 30 or 40 zone is not acceptable. Out on the open road, or a motorway, then twice the speed limit is of course perfectly OK (provided that there are no other motorists to interact with).

What more is there to say - you would not be welcome on one of our events. Drive fast in the country drive slow through the villages etc.

Dear oh dear. Any possible mitigating circumstances for the speed? Like it was the M6 or something with a dodgy limit being applied?
The answer to the 'do they still work if they shoot from behind' question is yes, they do.

So they wont do you for "due care and attention" only "dangerous driving" for a) the speeding, and b) braking so sharply...they have 14days to serve the NIP IIRC
Some lasers have number plate recognition, others sync with a SVHS recording, others have plod writing down number plates.

You really are a complete idiot Sandeep. I was putting it down to the fact that you were young and foolish. Now I know that you are just brain dead. I would not be laughing if I were you. You aren't going to look so cool stood at the bus stop in the rain or be laughing when your family kicks your arse.
From what you have written it is clear that you have forgotten the highway code in the brief time that has elapsed since passing your test. Stopping distances are:
30mph - 75 feet (23m). Thinking distance 30ft (9m), braking distance 45ft (14m).
50mph - 175 feet (53m). Thinking distance 50ft (15m), braking distance 125ft (38m).
60mph - 240 feet (73m). Thinking distance 60ft (18m), braking distance 180ft (55m).
70mph - 315 feet (96m). Thinking distance 70ft (21m), braking distance 245ft (75m).
As you obviously weren't 'thinking' very well at the time, you can add a fair few feet or metres onto those 'thinking' distances.
I think that they could get you on driving without due care and attention, wreckless driving and speeding. You have absolutely nothing to be proud of. You could at least try to appear contrite and penitent.
