We'll be giving it a miss this week, house move and all that, but should be at the Griffins Head, Papplewick on wednesday.

ebay again ...

Bah! eBay are always ripping me off... almost as much as the people who 'buy' my items...

When I say 'buy' I mean with stolen funds that Paypal then recover and leave me with no cash and no recovered goods..

Oh well..... Got that off my chest! Time to put the past behind me I think.. now looking forward to buying a wedge.

Dave.

Might be bringing a damsel in distress who has a sick Mini (a proper one) in the hope that someone might be able to suggest what's wrong with it.

actually, on a more serious note I would love to look around another mini and especially if it's poorly and I can make it well again.. any idea what's up with it or what the symptoms are?

I carry lots of tools with me but let me know if it's a part and I can arrange to bring it with me

Its running really rough and has completely cut-out a few times while driving (actually, nearly everytime on the approach to a round-a-bout). After it cuts out she has problems starting it again.

From memory she's had the ECU changed/fixed, had new leads, plugs, battery and last time several fuses all to try and cure the problem. She's also had the fuel pump checked and its supposedly OK.

She'll be able to describe (or even show you) better.

unlikely to be anything oil pressure related tom unless it's generating about 500psi and physically increasing the load on the pump lol.

trouble with the injected minis is that the mixture distribution problems of the carb versions are exacerbated.
the mini uses what's termed a wet manifold system, ie you spray fuel into the manifold which doesn't completely get distributed into the airstream, but relies on heat in the manifold vapourising the rest, and this constant wetting of the manifold goes some way to getting over the charge robbing effect of the siamesd inlet ports. the downside is that any weakening of the mixture causes significant running problems as the first port of any sucking pair gets a very weak mixture.

we'll probably have to ask a few questions about what's been done so far, but the closed loop trimming (possible exhaust leak) and/or throttle postion sensosor are top of my list at the moment on the limited info we have so far... it could also be that the mini's notrious crankcase breathing problems are affecting the closed loop trim, or that oil sludge is just blocking the idle bypass reducing the base idle airflow.

if we can make a few educated guesses tom can get his spanners out and tinker a bit, i might have to leave early though depending on how i get on with the race car today ...

see you all tonight.
