AAH ,I hope he brings it on the 2nd august, my Saab's probably quicker than that(even with you driving).

She! You hope she brings it. You won't catch me driving it.

Actually, I've driven it loads of times, it's fun...in a fluffy, floaty kind of way...

I was always convinced that they were sold in pairs - one for each foot ...

Wow you're right, might have to give them a ring to warn them... we might clean the place out!!

Don't go to the chippy we (Joolz, Paul 0ld64er, MrMaggit) went to a few weeks back... they were having a bit of a domestic
All that just because the poor bloke wasn't listening when the woman told him how long the mini fish would be

See you next week hopefully... still negotiating for a lift up in the escort.

Dave.

Rads sprung a leak on the Chim so it looks like 1 TVR less. I'll probably still come down but in the girlfriends 147 instead (better than the vectra!)

I shall attend, but carried forth by my latest acquisition, a 1972 herbie lookie-likey beetle with high lift cam, big valve head and a snorty carb...and a simply ear-splitting exhaust

I might be late though because it'll only do 83mph down a hill with a following wind and on the flat it vmax's at 76mph

not to mention handling llike a boat in a storm

Sounds very prophetic to me. I don't recall Tonka Toys ever building beetles for a start.

Decades ago I knew a guy (he was an F1 mechanic at the time) whoe swapped an original Healey 3000 (hairy beast with bad handling and in need of some TLC) for a black beetle with wide (for those days) wheels and stuff.

First night about 5 of us piled in for the short run to the pub. That one steered like a ship in a storm.

Next day he had a look around it. The steering column, iirc, ended in a large sort of rubber/net-weave material block that acted as a shock absorber between the wheel and the steering rack operating mechanism. 3 or 4 bolts held everyting together. Or should have done. In this case only one remained and I seem to recall it was loose.

I don't think we ever used it for the pub run again. Or for anything that I can remember.

So what you are saying is that on this particular Beetle there was only one nut behind the steering wheel?

Hmmm sounds familiar
