I know what your saying, but you don't buy a second hand car for the colour(it is a bit too pink for me though).I'm not that keen on silver cars but I like mine and I would have James's XKR tomorrow. This is the ideal colour cerby for me though but with magnolia hide and black carpetswww.pistonheads.com/sales/43760.htm But it's too old. I love the cerby dash though probably the best dash and driving position I've ever seen on a car.I was hoping to get a late chim after xmas but since I had a go in a cerby i'm tempted to get one instead. Trouble is your meant to warm them up before you turn them off and some of my journeys are a few hundred yards. I will have to have a word with somebody technical like iain, see if a cerby is suitable for my needs.

I'm sure it would be the best TVR on the road if the current owner has looked after it. I was just questioning the aesthetics more than anything.

I'm not sure if Tom fancys TVR ownership but I think it is my destiny, the only garage between me and Stafford town centre has recently changed hands it is now run by a former maclaren f1 engineer. He has set himself up as a performance engine tuning specialist specialising in..............................Tvr's.
If I am going to get a cerby what better place to live than 300yd's from a TVR specialist (spooky or what)

I must admit yours sounds almost as good as a de-baffled cerby.
Your A technical chap James,(I just check oil water and tyres anything else and it goes to a garage),
Would I be able to do this in a cerby:
Weekdays 7 miles to work engine running about 8mins
same again at night.
Weekends 150 yds fore a paper
200yds to pub car park
300yds to garage.
I've heard they don't like being turned off before they are warm but I don't know what problems this would cause.

Yep, yours would probably be a lot better bet especially reliability wise, but a little bird(raven haired stunner from Nottingham) tells me you might not be selling it next year.If you are selling it next spring tell me first cheers Dougie.

I will be honest and admit that I very much doubted that it is possible to find a car that is both rugged - to minimax defeating standards of ruggedness - in the quest for reliability and 'interesting' in the sense that it is unusual, perhaps even abnormal, and offers a certain exclusivity or at least near exclusivity.

The challenge was made more difficult by the budget.

This suggestion does still blow the budget but looks rugged enough and is certainly different.

Any comments?

But he wants a reliable daily driver

>> Edited by mungo on Tuesday 2nd August 08:15

(off topic)Sorry for the thread hijack Tom
Mungo, if your still there could you answer the question I asked James above.
Would I get away with 7 miles a day in a cerby and 200 and 300 yard journeys at weekends?
I have a cunning plan
A. it will spend 99% of the Time within 7 miles of a Tvr specialist.
B.If it doesn't start, I take the wifes car and the tvr specialist can walk 300yds to my house and pick it up.(not being cruel to the mrs she works 250yds down the road).
C. If james does sell his car next year this guy does xkr's as well(when I was in there he had a 355 a maserati and 4 old 400hp! scoobys he was working on

The 7 mile trip shouldn't be an issue, but the time it'll take the engine to warm up sat on your drive you could have walked the 200 yard trip

I like to sit outside the pub on a sunday afternoon listening to the footy on the car stereo and watching the world go by. I could always take it on a run on the way to the pub though.

S2000 Tom.

My Mrs has one. She drives it like a girl and I drive it like a loon. It does both brilliantly.
Mega reliable and cheap maintenance plus good looks easy to use with electric hood and it doesn't leak.
Only downside is about mid 20's fuel consumption.
These are a bargain thrill and if the Mrs didn't already have one I probably would.

If you are interested I can arrange a drive in it.

damn it. I was in maldon yesterday I could have looked it over...severe time constraints and 3 working cars (shock! horror!) have meant that I haven't devoted as much time as I wanted to looking...and i've had to keep re-arranging that test drive in a mustang

11.5k is v.v.v cheap though! oh dear...some thought required urgently!

Great car, I am guessing the 46k on the odometer makes it a cheap car?
