C+M have actually bought the pub haven't they? So hopefully they will reopen it. There used to be classic car meets there when it was the knockerdown!

Maybe we need to start a petition of support?

Planning was also originally refused Ettington. There are always Karen's, both male and female.
So fingers crossed for the future. Although I'm quite happy going to the original site a few time a month.
Hey side note, anyone know the hurt Arms in ambergate, this is maybe 25 minutes down the road.
They have car meets and I have seen the way they leave the pub carpark. There on you tube for anyone to see. Were as caffeine and machine are nothing like this. There is not one video on the Internet showing cars tearing away from the site.

The Hurt Arms took action to stop that a while back. It is now pre-booked tickets only and they have their own CCTV monitoring the exit.

There is also the Heritage Woods at Ednaston gathering this Saturday (17/12) where they've apparently done a couple of Pistons & Pies events there as well.

That's 5 miles from my house and I know nothing about it! Do you have a link to the details?

I've never been to any of their events BTW & I've already got plans for Saturday morning.

I went to one in the summer (Pistons & Pies which was alright). Was supposed to be going to this on Saturday, but Covid has put an end to that.

Lot's of pubs hold car meets, seemingly without specific planning permission to do so? What is it about the C&M meets that requires them to obtain some sort of special permission? As has been mentioned, The Knockerdown had regular classic car meets previously anyway.

The permission was to build a load of new building and hard standings I think to optimise the site

Ah yes, the Pistons & Pies was in Hollington. I don't think I can make this Sat either, but I'll keep a look out for future events.

Oh I see, thanks. So they can have car meets there anyway? Just not on a super new big car park with swanky new outside catering provision? I suppose C&M is a little more than just a car meet at a local?

A parked car is a parked car no matter the swanky or plain venue.
C&M has become far more than a car meet. They have quite a bit non related car things going on.

Hi all,

Myself and a friend have recently set up iGNiTiON cars and coffee in the Peak District on Baslow Road just outside off Chesterfield. We are having sold out open day event on the 2nd of January but will be open every weekend from then on, with plans to open up more as we get busier through spring. We are doing top quality breakfast, light lunch bites and hot/cold drinks to start with, but again plan to expand the menu onto full evening meal offerings.

Please take a look at www.ignitioncarsandcoffee.co.uk or follow us on instagram or Facebook.

Went to see the in-laws earlier.

Mother-in-law said “you know the Knockerdown? They are turning it into a racetrack!”

Wife’s sister lives in Brassington. Shows you how misinformation spreads!

As I said regarding caffeine and machine, it's not over till its over.
This was put up today, they have even advertised and are training staff for the new venue....

caffeineandmachine As we welcome in the New Year, and prepare ourselves for a busy 2023, we’re making a few changes to our winter opening hours at The Houndshill. We have changes to make at HQ, and a new site opening later this year, with another not too far behind, so having some extra time to work with our amazing team on the expansion of Caffeine&Machine will really help both us and them prepare as best we can. It will also allow us to remain open and bring you, the #cultofmachine, the awesomeness you’ve come to expect during our busier winter days.

With that in mind, we’ll be closed Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 January to 28 February 2023 inclusive. This means we can still bring you the vibrancy, variety, and all-round vibes you know and love in the Yard from Wednesday to Sunday, including our much-loved #cultofmachine Wednesday evenings and our ever-diverse, ever-fascinating weekends. It
also allows us to work on site maintenance at the Houndshill and training and preparation
for the opening of our second site (more news on that very soon!).

This is great news Lewis, will definitely be coming along to your venue being local smile Great news for the petrol head.
EDIT. The bikes that are welcome there, is this motorbikes, middle aged men in lycra on pedal bikes.... Or both welcome? biggrin

I was more intrigued by their mention of a third site. Any ideas where that will be?

A little more down south, think Oxford way.
I am at the Egginton site tomorrow night for the new years party. Will ask.

Hi Fezspider,

Motorbikes would be our target as tour site is focused towards petrolhead of all forms, however if cyclists pop in then they will be welcomed.
