I'm looking for a good bodyshop in the nottingham area.

It's not a big job. I want to tidy up the front wheel arches and front of my 87 944 turbo. Behind the wheel arches will need some new metal as they are rusting away. This car was originially galvanised. I'm not looking for new galvanised metal, but it has to look good and I want confidence that the rusting metal has been removed - not just covered up for a year.

Any recomendations?

Ah. OK. Ta. I will definitely check out AMB.

Has anybody used him for servicing etc? They seems to do a variety of makes and I was wondering to what extent it was truly a specialist garage.

He is a real specialist and enthusiast in Porches but will work on any sports car(If you visit him you will find my current car in there).

He has a wonderfull self built custom 996 which has an amazing paint job (and a 3.6 Turbo engine) and there is nothing he doesent know about Porsches.

Hi Kipper,

I know Adrian at AMB very well, in fact I got him to join PCGB many years ago and have used him for servicing on all of my cars as have quite a few of the lads from our Region of the club (all types from 912's upto Gemballa 993 with 550bhp !! )
Mechanically he is spot on and is a 'repair' if you can, 'replace' if you cant type mechanic. Cant recommend him highly enough for spanner work.
Best thing to do is pop in and have a chat with your car before you decide. Mention me if you do, Mark Hardy, as I'll get treated to some choccy biccys next time I'm there then

his daughter is quite fit too so might be some eye candy too.

the chap who fixes my mini takes his welding and panel beating to be done at allan perry's garage and my mechanic chap knows his stuff.

Not used them personally but

Stallion Motor Body Specialist

(0115) 925 3979

Dovecote Lane Sth
Beeston
Nottingham
NG9 1JG

Have a very good reputation. Is always full of ferraris which can't be a bad sign! Its also next door to possibly the best pub in nottingham (Victoria Hotel) so you can get a pint while your there.

It's my local! May check them out, although all the good words about AMB are very persuasive. I was not that impressed with the other place i've used in nottingham, so I'm keen to find somewhere for mechanical work too.

You lucky barsteward! I love that place.

I think Stallion keeps a low profile because of the quantity of Fezza's on the premises at any one time. If your after a mechanical place locally I would recomend J&B autos on Grove Avenue in Beeston.

Yes it is no coincidence that I live so close to the vic!

Ah.. J&B. Thanks for that too.

I've used the lilac grove garage... which is in Beeston Rylands. It's a classic car garage of the old cosy type. Ford anglias and MGs and what not. They did my MOT and welded up my exhaust/wastegate which was blowing. They seemed nice, honest, and good-value.

Heard any word on them?

No sorry. Only been here for a couple of years, I can recomend that you don't go to the Fiat main dealer but I doubt you were considering that anyway!

for a contrasting opinion: I personally think that geoff bloor is a supercilious git who knows far far less than he thinks he does about minis..can't comment on his knowledge on other cars though. oh, and he doesn't care whether he gets your business or not either, and I wouldn't say he's that busy. an old school garage of the worst type unfortunately

To be honest if you want a 'perfect' money no option paint job then try Furfaro Coachworks at Ilkeston (0115 944 0639).
He paints Frank Sytners own personal collection of cars........that says it all really considering Sytner is personally worth £140 million since he sold the Group and moved to Monaco and can use anyone in the world to look after his own motors.
Stallion are ok but......some of their work has ended up back at Furfaros for 'correction' before.
Both of these bodyshops do the warranty work for Graypaul Ferrari....your choice.
Cheaper, but honest job, try AMB, its nearer to you.
Go see Stallion and get em to price it then go see Ady.
