Any PHers from Cheltenham? Only one on the mapping thingy. I don't see any mentions of it? I searched the whole of Midlands forum and found 2 references, one of which just to a road called Cheltenham Road.

Has anyone ever been to it? Does anyone here know it exists? Is it some sort of Pistonheads black hole? I don't even know if it's Midlands or South West or what. Am I going to have to travel miles for meet ups etc?

Surprising really as it's got a lot of expensive cars there, on the same short road (~100 metres long) in Montpellier I saw a new M5, new Silver Seraph and something else interesting parked up on the same night.

Glad I bought a new car so I fit in a bit better!

YES!!! well sort of.

Lexie hails from near the nag track and I go down and visit when she's not at uni.

A certain Nottingham based PH'er's parents live in Cheltenham, there arent any that I know of living in Chelt 24/7 but there must be a few!!!

The key word in your post being Montpellier, which is posh car capital of town.

Great place, i've spent nearly all my life here apart from uni and can't think of anywhere else i'd rather be. Are you a local or just visiting?

Nearest PH meets are probably the bristol ones, well they're the ones i go to anyway. Hence why i only saw this thread by chance, what with being a South West forum type and all that.

Hi agent006 (do you work for GCHQ? ),

I hail from near Dursley, so am fairly local but am moving here so long as I can find a room to rent (grrr).

Looking to be within walking distance from the centre. Keep your eye out for a genuine Silver 190E Cosworth!

Any interesting haunts worth visiting locally (either car related or not)?

Nearly all of Cheltenham is in walking disatance from everywhere else in Cheltenham, so you'll be OK on that front! Avoid places like Whaddon, Hesters Way and St Paul's (why does every town have a dodgy area calles St Pauls?) and you'll not go far wrong. Plenty of flats in big regency style places if that's your bag. Plenty of flats generally, as they seemt to build nothing but flats these days.
Not a huge amount for the car nut round here, there's Prescott hillclimb, but that's finished for this year. Some great roads, and very few scameras.
What brings you to these parts, can't be work surely, there aren't any jobs here!

Drop me a mail if you're after any specifics (i keep missing this thread as it's in the midland forum).

When Roop and myself lived in Cheltenham we used to go to the 3 Counties meets.

They post in the SW forum as Cheltenham is more SW than midlands.

Cheers agent for the tips..

I'd like one of the regency style places (got too used to living in Clifton when at uni in Bristol!). You're right though, not many jobs are there? I'm starting a job with Serco Home Affairs in Gloucester though, not my choice of area but..

If you're commuting to gloucester every day then look at somewhere in Montpellier or Lansdown area for regency stuff. Getting across town at peak time can be a bit of a pain.
If you're in town tomorrow, then get a copy of the Echo, as thursday is houses day. There's a big lettings section in the main paper (between classifieds and sport).

Cheers for the tips.. I'm getting the Echo every few days and have seen around 7 houses so far and called up about loads more. Being really picky though as I can afford to.. but every one I've wanted gets taken by somebody else .

Were you at school in Cheltenham - if so which one?

Russell

P.S. What's with the Audi fetish? Good choice, my mum's A6 2.5 TDi (same body style as yours, in maroon with the S4 type wheels) has just passed 300,000 miles.

Same as your merc fetish! Just great cars, need something big and quick and 4x4, so a no brainer really.

Chaps, Darlo here from Cheltenham!

Always plenty of nice cars parked outside the Wine Bar - recently saw a spanking new 4-door Aston Martin and always plenty of 911's, Jag's and Merc's.

Did you find that flat to rent yet?

Nope nowhere, and still looking. Nearly had a place recently but in the end I was led on for a week then they said 'sorry we let it to a friend'.

I'd go for anything from £250-450 (double room), in a shared place nearish the centre. Ideally a room you can fit a desk in (for my PC so I can browse PH! ) and people aged under 30... no offence to the oldies but I'm just a youth!

I think I'm just going to have to settle for whatever comes up next because I'm really loosing the will to bother!

Any reason you're looking for house shares?, as you'd get a decent one bed flat for £400pm up.

I'll reply to your email this evening, unless i have already (can't remember, it's all a bit hectic at the moment).

Heh.. no you didn't. Can't remember what I wrote in it now though!

I'm just looking to share with people at the moment, as I'm not really looking to live on my own as it's a bit boring! Also wouldn't mind meeting some people in Cheltenham, so housemates is an obvious option!

In a bizarre pistonheadsy twist, I looked round a place on Saturday occupied by none other than Steve Cropley's son.

Cool. One of our main clients is just on the town side of Waitrose. It's a nice area, op and coming and all that.
I'm going to look at a place just off St George's road this weekend. Somewhat over budget but 2 dbl rooms and underground parking.
