Dear All,

Just be aware that debit card cloning has taken place recently at the Shell station in Leamington. Dodgy employees who set up a camera on the PIN machine appear to be to blame.

For the moment, the station has now discarded the PIN machine in favour of a good old signature. Allegedly there are several hundred people who may be affected. It's my regular station. My bank tell me that I'm not affected, but I've cancelled my card just in case. Better safe than skint!

Cheers
Matt

Funny you should mention this as my local Optimax provider has recently done away with the Chip and Pin in favour of the good old signature.

Not sure Doug. May be worth asking local Plod. There is at least one other station in my area that is currently under investigation following half a dozen instances where cards were cloned and cash taken from accounts.

Seems that the biggest offenders are Eastern Europeans that we have "welcomed" to the UK. Grrrrrr! Makes me mad

I wouldn't suspect the chaps that work at my local in the slightest. I seem to have struck up a relationship with Pump number 9 since getting the Tiv last year and I'm in there at least once a week to fill the Yaris too. The staff acknowledge me with a smile and a friendly hello now as I am there so often!! Was just wondering if the company saw it as enough of a problem nationwide that they had universally pulled chip and pin.....

This chip and pin thing has forced me to remember my credit card pin number which I don't like. I purposely destroyed the letter with the pin so that I would never be tempted to take money out on it.
I'm not surprised there is cloning going on, it's so easy to see everyones pin number now.

My boyfriend has had some interesting experiences from what he's said about this petrol station in Leamington. If he's that side of town and desperate for fuel he'll just go to Kenilworth.

Probably a good idea Holly. Having said that, Comptons Shell in Lillington is closer and they're a nice bunch in there.

Cheers

Just heard that a friend of a friend was relieved of £1750 following a card clone at this petrol station. He's not at all a happy chappy.

Matt, I had an email about them too. I use that station all the time and not had any problems. I'd noticed that they'd had the PIN machine removed recently..

I think I'll carry on using them seeing as the police are on to it it should be fine and it's a little cheaper than Comptons

Will keep my eyes open for the M3 too!

Hi Rob,

I used the station on Saturday and it's still sign on the dotted line. I've changed my M3 for a 330d M-Sport, but I'll keep an out for your M Coupe.

Cheers
