The accidental purchase of a two wheel drive 4WD Explorer.
I'd forgotten all about that one.. Must have been a little annoying..
Nah - just meant there was less to go wrong (not least because we couldn't use it for towing anyone out) And it was SOOOooooooo much fun sliding it around in the desert. (Bought it for £1k here and sold it for £2.5k there, too!)

I was going to leave this one a while until I'd done a bit more groundwork around it, but... I have a plan...
I was lazing on the sofa the other weekend, and ended up watching the whole of Michael Palin's "Around the world in 80 days" in one sitting. It got me thinking - "how hard can it be?" Now, you'd not see much of the world rushing that much, so I figured you could make one minor tweak:
* No aeroplanes allowed apart from over the Atlantic, Pacific, and POSSIBLY from Arabia to India
That way you've just gained yourself 3-4 weeks for sightseeing. Same rules of nothing booked in advance, and no other "modern" transport, though.
I'm probably going to set up a website for this, see who I can get interested, etc. Would like to do it with a couple of other people, but think 2/3/4 is the most a group could take before it started impacting the help you could blag. Posssibly do it as a race with multiple groups setting off from different points/at different times. That's most likely too grand an ambition for the first attempt, though. Oh, and I was thinking of doing it around 18-24 months from now.
Then, once I've finished that one - "Around the Southern hemisphere in 80 days". Same thing, but South America, Africa, Australasia - need to think about the usage of 'planes in that one when I get a chance.

I'll be there, though probably not in BG, he's on the old wheel and tyre combo while the alloys are refurbished, two of the tyres are perished and one keeps going flat over night.
Plus, I have spent a ridiculous amount of time & effort cleaning it, wouldnt want to get it dirty!

I'd take a lift if I had the chance and have a drink! Saves driving.
Boosted.
