New camera for the M4/M5 Smart Motorway....
Spotted these some weeks ago and having just travelled through the stretch reminded me.
Mounted up on those gantries fitted with Cameras, I think these may be the 'new' single camera/ multiple lane cameras on trial. I can see no other purpose other than on trial (given their mounting on Gatso fitted gantries) unless they are ANPR?
Tale tail signs...
Approaching the gantry a single standard is positioned with 3 cameras mounted on top pointing at each lane (see associated gantry in distance)
2 largish 'boxes' one camera (light blue in colour) one flash(?) cantilevered off the gantry framework
One set certainly M5 NB, M4 WB between Almondsbury and M32 jcts.

Driving southbound on the M5 last night in the small hours, in amongst all these cameras at an indicated 70.
Signs off. I was overtaken by White Van Man doing maybe 80-85 who got himself flashed when he was a bit ahead of me.
His answer was to brake and the drive at about 60 for a few miles as if that would undo the photo. They he went back up to 80-85 and vanished off into the distance.
Why would anyone speed past a speed camera even if you think it's off?

In the past week, all of the camera's on the side of the motorway have been painted yellow when they were previously grey. This makes me question whether they have been legal for the length of time they have been there when they were painted grey (not that i've been caught!).
Glad someone else has noticed that!! I thought I was going mad.If the article is to be believed then it would appear that the cameras (Assuming Gatsos) are set at 10% plus 2mph.
