Sorry to hear that Alec.

Hope she gets well soon.

When I got put back together they used titanium parts which are non-metallic. Accordingly the alarms at airports aren't set off. Highly embarrassing when first time at an airport after the accident, I said to my mates "watch this", as I walk towards the scanner, go through and nothing happens. Quite glad it didn't now though.

Actually, Titanium is a metal. Its a bit brittle, so usually used as an alloy.

Airport "metal detectors" are usually magnetometers in fact and as such will only detect ferrous metals, which titanium isn't.

That kind of goes with the watch and Porsche. If it were me I'd have something in cast-iron and brass

Daz - living tissue over metal endo-skeleton. Which bits did you have repaired? My father had a plated arm and I'm quite disappointed I lacked the presence of mind to ask for the bits back before he was cremated.

Titamium plates over my ulna and radius in my right arm (they were both smashed). Due to an accident caused by a drink driver where I received a fractured pelvis, multiple breaks in my right arm, three broken ribs, a chipped tooth and a few battle scars.

Everything should heal up OK by itself except her arm which is being pinned and screwed and bolted together with all sorts of scary looking stuff.

Now's the kind of time you realise how good the NHS actually can be. Bupa have been nothing but shite through the whole thing however.

We'd discussed it a few years before he died and he (being an engineer) figured that it would be better to whip them out before cremation, so they didn't get damaged by the heat/hot ash etc. I fancied the plate as a paperweight. Thinking about it I wonder what happened to the bits because they weren't among the ashes...

Moving back on track. Can we have suggestions for venues other than the usual couple of pints at the Spring Gardens pub followed by a curry across the road at the Raj Bari.

cheers

What's wrong with the Raj Bari? I don't mind where we go but at short notice we'll struggle to find any where else decent that isn't booked up.

I haven't had a curry since I got back from my holiday (to India)

Nothing wrong with the Raj Bari. Just wanted to get feed back if anyone wanted to go anywhere else.

Fairy snuff. I've just booked my "work" xmas bash tho, and struggled to find anywhere for six of us. So we probably need to make a decision sooner rather than later.

Taking Daz' suggestion on board, I've just rung Henry Africa's and Planet Pizza.

HA reckon the bar won't be too busy on the evening of the 14th, but obviously can't guarrantee it. PP, however, reckon booking would be a must, so if we want to go there we'd need a fairly confident show of hands asap.

Agree with Daz!

However, if its 100% absolutely necessary, best bet at the moment would be Clifton Down shopping centre, especially as the exit barrier's been broken for the last couple of weeks so there's no need to pay...
