This has gone out on the mailshot but i thought I would open up an early thread for this one.

For once the TVRCC on a national basis looks like it could be onto something for a meet this summer.
The plans are for a circuit-based meet at Rockingham and it doesn't sound half bad!
If it all checks out I for one will be attending and it would be nice to get a few more of the PHers up there.
The March meet is being finalised this week.

From the TVRCC site...
The event will be called TVR Thunder - British and Loud, and will take place at the Rockingham Circuit over the weekend of 5/6/7 August 2005.
We are planning to have a track day on the Friday although the actual track is still to be confirmed. It may be the National Circuit but or it may be the International Circuit which includes part of the oval including some of the banking. Clearly the price for the track day will depend upon which circuit we use but we are looking at keeping the cost for that within our usual track day price bracket - ie £100-150 per car.

There is nothing currently planned for Friday night but we do have some ideas - watch this space.

On Saturday members will arrive at the circuit from 0830/0900 onwards. Other than Sunday's race teams, we will have the entire Rockingham complex to ourselves. The race teams will be qualifying on Saturday morning and to keep those of us entertained who do not wish to watch that we hope to offer the following:
Drag Racer demonstrations
Terry Grant Tamora/Legends stunt driving (if you've never seen him, check out his website here

After lunch, the national circuit will host a novices’ track day where we would like to encourage some of those of you who have never ventured onto the track before to come and find out why those seasoned veterans keep coming back. We plan to have instructors available for all and will be looking at keeping this to around £50 per car.

Throughout Saturday, the TVR Village will set up adjacent to the main grandstand and will include, we hope, the chance to test drive some of the latest TVR demonstrators along with a variety of our favourite suppliers.

Also throughout Saturday there will be a fun fair on site (rides at a nominal extra cost), jousting, bouncy boxing, bungee fun (the sort of thing where you strap a bungee around your waist and see how far you can run against it along an elongated bouncy castle) and a host of other inclusive fun activities.

There will be a large Scalextric track set up for us all to pit our skills against the clock (better keep my 7 year old away from that, he's better than me!)

For the children we plan face painting and a magician.

There will be an inter-region autotest.

And finally, of course, we will have the national concours competition for the polishers.

Saturday evening will consist of a barbecue and entertainment from a top tribute band (get voting for the Blues Brothers!) in our own reserved VIP suite on the first floor of the main grandstand.

On Sunday, we will be joined by around 30000 other paying spectators and have a reserved VIP parking area adjacent to the grandstand where we will have exclusive use of the TVR Paddock Club and reserved seating from where we can watch the racing. At the moment, the race programme has still to be confirmed but will definitely include Rockingham's ASCAR racers. There are two spare slots in the race programme at the moment which have been offered to TVR who are said to be very interested in running two rounds of the TVR Challenge. We will confirm this as soon as we know, but even without this the race programme itself will offer a fantastic spectacle. Although we have yet to confirm it, we are fairly sure that there will be the opportunity for some parade laps prior to the races. Once the race programme completes, we will all move to the back of the grandstand for the Sunday night concert. Rockingham regularly book bands such as The Darkness for these events and therefore we have been assured that it will be someone of this calibre.

The cost for this weekend package which includes everything you see above including all entertainment (except fun fair rides) and Saturday night's barbecue but excluding the track days and the accommodation will be under £50 per head. Camping at the circuit will be available with full facilities at around £10 per pitch.

Sounds cracking!

Anyone up for a weekend hotel package Friday - Sunday night or is it just us that prefers comfort over function (camping that is).

Dave the RO for D&C TVRCC wants to meet up for a joint venture up, I think it's a good idea.

Why?

Instead of it being predominantly TVR (which it might still be) it would open the door for various other vehicles/enthusiasts.

Isn't that the whole point of the event?

The TVRCC events committee is working hard to arrange a National Event for the TVRCC Membership, and that's precisely what it should be - for Members of the TVRCC.

www.tvr-car-club.co.uk/join.asp

Nothing to say you have to own one to be a member. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in TVR's.

Plenty of fine events for non TVRCC members available here :

Agree Simon, I don't know what Dave and Corin have planned. Anyway, on another subject, are the rumours of you taking on the RO for Somerset true?

The jury is still out on that

I have a problem with the commitment, don't we all!

Actually many people would recommend that I be committed more often

The trouble is that I am often working away, so I can't guarantee to be around on a regular monthly basis.

Quite happy to organise a few runs though

It would be the SW PHers that are members of TVRCC, the ones that don't go to the meets.

If club politics are being bantered already let's scrap the whole thing.

Bad idea.

Corin, TVRCC members can't have a joint venture with themselves

Would appear that we're on the same page in fact, the more the merrier as far as I am concerned.

You would be surprised, there were lots of TVRs at the PHers meet from the region that don't attend TVRCC meets.
