Just accepted a job that needs me to head into London once every couple of weeks, standard full day so probably a 7am train from Tiverton and a 5-6pm
Train from London back.

Anyone do/done this journey?

Can you always get a seat on the train? Parking at Tiverton ok?

Any hints/tips?

Cheers 🙂

How easy would it be for you to get to Exeter?

Would Exeter direct to London Waterloo work for you? Might be slightly quicker and no changes. In the morning you'd be fine for a seat, obviously return from London at peak times will be hit and miss.

Although I COULD get to Exeter, I don't know why I would, the train takes longer and costs more than from Tiverton.

The Waterloo trains from Exeter take over 3 and a half hours, the Padington ones about 10 mins longer than tiverton , plus the extra 30 min drive I would have to do past tiverton

Isnt Tiverton on the same line just closer to London?

Apologies, think I must have been keying something in wrong earlier as when I compared the results it came up with a route from Tiverton via Bristol (which was adding on an extra hour), rather than going direct to Paddington

The route I was suggesting was Exeter-Yeovil-Basingstoke-Waterloo, at the time it looked more direct. Looking again I can see that's obviously not the case getmecoat

If you get the Taunton, Basingstoke, Reading, Paddington service it'll get you there in about 2hrs.

Be aware that there is significant planned engineering works at Bristol Parkway over August and September. Whilst this will not directly effect where you get on and off the train, it could impact the timing and reliability of some services.
